| Ambush Paintball Games, Strines, Yorkshire, UK Although primarily a Paintball site, Airsoft games are run once a month. The walk-on green fee is cheap and includes mask and overall hire (if required), a three-course hot meal at midday and hot/cold drinks all day. Limited hire weapons are available, although of varying quality. High-quality pyrotechnics are available, and may be freely used throughout the games. This site consists of large areas of mixed woodland, including several forts and a 'village'. Games are mostly paintball-style scenarios, but notheless both intense and enjoyable. Only paintball-standard masks may be used on this site, as there are often paintball games taking place at the same time as airsoft ones, and there are large numbers of 'spent' paintballs lying around, so combats tend to need a wash afterwards. Overall, this site offers less serious, but intense action for a very reasonable price Fireball Squadron, Bassett's Pole, Warwickshire, UK The standard Airsofting site at Fireball Squardon is located in the corner of a 300+ acre Paintball site, and consists of firly open woodland with several 'bases' dotted around, there's a bunker complex - part of which is underground - a fuel dump, border checkpoint and more. The surrounding Paintball site is excellent, with a Scud launch site, wild west town, Egyptian tomb and more. The whole site is used for Fireballs Squadron's National Games, which are top quality and well worth the money. Camping space is available on the site and it's about a 10 minute walk through the site to the pub or McDonald's 50m outside the gate. The Fireball team put tremendous effort into their Big Games, which take upto 11 months to plan, and the outcome shows the effort and skill of the staff. There's no excuse for missing the next National Event held here - you'll kick yourself if you do... Phoenix Airsoft Adventures, Pleasely, Nottinghamshire, UK A good site, with access to a variety of terrain, including mixed woodland, open grassland, riverside and a stone bridge. When all areas of the site are used, a great day's gaming can be had here. If not all the areas are available, then play can be somewheat repetitive. Sadly, the indoor CQB maze has closed down due to running costs. While smoke grenades are allowed, thunderflashes and fragmentation grenades are not allowed on most areas of the site. The prices are reasonable, with a substantional discount for Members. Drinks and snacks are provided, but no meals. The hire weapons are mostly reliable, rent isn't over-priced and includes 1000 rounds of 0.2g ammo. Overall, this site offers an action-packed, fast-paced day's play for a reasonable price. Spectre Wargames, Lower Mascoed, Herefordshire, UK By far the best site visited by the Fighting Hedgehogs so far, this site boasts both a large FIBUA area and a huge area of fields, gullies, rivers, woodland and a 'village' complex. The site is run along very professional lines by dedicated staff, including ex-Military officers - no messing around on this site! Everything about this site is top-notch, the staff are courteous, friendly and efficient; the gaming areas are large and varied; games are varied, well-briefed and very well marshalled; accomodation is available on-site, which includes toilet facilities, kettle, microwave, fridge, TV, PS2 and heating - all you need is a sleeping bag and some food. The green fee is VERY low considering the quality of the site. High quality pyrotechnics are available, and may be freely used at any time. Overall, this is pretty much everything an Airsofter could want. If you're within 500 miles of Hereford, make the effort to go to a weekender here!! |
