Violet Flowers

He shook his slight frame to rid himself of the bothersome sparkles, fluttering his diminutive wings in vain to remove the dust. He quickly grew tired of the task and took in his surroundings.

Rose, his twin sister, stood on the other side of the clearing, chasing a golden colored butterfly, her pale pink hair fanning out behind her, while her tiny deco pink wings danced in the wind.

Slowly he breathed in the deep pine scent of the great forest, noticing the fresh smell of rain.

"Rose, you know we can�t be out here for long."

"I know Aziel, but look how nice it is! The tiny purple blossoms are in bloom and the sky is cloudless after the rain."

"Why don�t we pick some and bring them to mother then?" he spoke softly as he stooped over and ran his small finger over one of the violet petals.

Rose�s eyes lit up with glee, completely forgetting the butterfly as she ran to the nearest grove of the magnificent wildflowers. Aziel took his time to reach his sisters side, dropping to his knees to pick out the most perfect flowers he could find.

Aziel could hear the heavy sound of boots before his grandfather even spoke.

"Aziel, Rose, it�s time to go back."

"Yes grandfather," they spoke in unison, both following him through the radiant portal once again, bouquets of lilac flowers tightly fisted in each of their hands.

Slowly the twins made their way up the pale cold marble steps into the enormous cathedral. Aziel walked hand in hand with his sister, feeling the rich plush of the isle carpet under his feet. They made their way to the end of the carpet where it stopped in front of an intricately carved wooden box.

He squeezed his sisters clammy hand tightly and laid his bunch of flowers on top of the box; Rose did too.

"Bye momma..." He said, sullenly turning and walking away. Rose followed shortly in suit.
