The Race of Nephilim

Chapter Two - Cursed for His Belief

School had gone smoothly that day. They attended their first class together, then went to their separate electives. The last class before lunch Reiana and Aurora attended together.

"Look! They're going at it again!" A newer student probably a freshman shouted forming a circle around two hidden figures. The boys pale features glanced at Reiana before turning back to the hidden duo. "Shit!" They shouted in unison running to the scene and pushing through the circle. In the middle stood Michael, and a pale boy, of about six feet, with jet black hair that fell to his shoulders, and when the light shone on his eyes they appeared to be red. In short, Sammael.

"Stop!" Reiana shouted struggling to get through the inner ring of students.

"Michael! Damn it move!" She screamed in frustration.

Reiana slammed her boot in to the back of a guys knee dropping him to the ground. Pushing past the fallen boy she ran in front of the bloodied Michael. Sammael, who couldn't stop his movement in such a quick notice, firmly planted his leg into her stomach.

"Well, Fuck..." She said blood sliding from the corner of her mouth down her chin, falling forward. Sammael caught her in his arms with a look of disbelief plastered on his face. A very pissed Michael was held back by a teacher and Aurora as she attempted to calm him down.

Reiana pushed herself away from Sammael, releasing her from his grasp. She dropped to her knees and grabbed her abdomen, from which blood poured, the force of the blow had opened the tender flesh of her most grievous wound.

Michael pulled free from Aurora and the teacher and ran to Reiana's side, attempting to help her up. Reiana pushed him away and stood on her own. Her body shaking as blood freely flowed from her open wound.

"Bastard." She ground out, her hand stemming the flow of the crimson river.

"I..I.. Oh God what have I done?" Sammael said as he took a step back.

Reiana glared at him, her eyes shone with an unknown force. Quietly she walked up to him, and with her free arm pulled him close, at the same time removed her hand from her wound and punched him in the stomach, staining the front of his shirt with her own blood.

"Don't fuck with my family." She whispered into his ear as he dropped to the ground cradling his stomach in pain. Reiana soon followed dropped to her already abused knees, her head thrown back as tears slid down her face, like wise blood down her body.

As soon as Reiana hit the ground Aurora was at her side, assessing the damage done to the previous injury. Michael rushed to her side as well, the indiscrete male as he was, took off his shirt and pressed it against the bleeding wound.

Reiana locked eyes with the crimson eyed devil that had broken her nearly healed spirit. And for a moment all she saw was sorrow in the depths of his eyes, and then a drastic change, one of pure malice. His gaze felt like it penetrated to the depths of her soul. Then in the back of her mind flashes of a life not her own began to form.

A figure, clothed in shadow and dripping in blood, stood alone in the middle of a massacre, thousands of bodies piled around. The sound of death itself was frightening as he made his was through the horde. Death himself stood ready to strike down the figure in shadow. But not even his power could slay him. Till the left hand of Sovereign Lord himself appeared. A man who shone with light and purity, an angel of God, the highest of the high, Michael.

Abruptly the images stopped, for some reason she had recognized the people, except the man, perhaps demon? He was a ominous figure, and yet this symbol of destruction clearly intrigued her.

She shook her head and reasoned that the lose of blood was making her delusional. Finally she realized her own surroundings, she was no longer at the scene of the fight, but in the sterilized setting of the nurses office.

Reiana winced in pain she sat up, and noticed that her shirt was not to be found, but her bra intact, as well as a large bandage covering her freshly opened wound.

"Well that fucking hurt." Reiana mumbled to no one in particular.

Taking in her surroundings she noticed Aurora and Michael curled up in a chair together relatively close to her bed. Not to far down the room she also saw Sammael, who has been buttoning up his shirt until her saw her stir. Now he just stood in place his hand resting on a button, like a deer caught in the headlights of a car. Quickly he finished his task and left.

She groaned with pain as she picked herself up from her spot and headed towards where Sammael had previously been. Reiana grimaced as the pain shoot throughout her body as she move, she decided to disregard it, instead focusing on the object she say laying on the bed where Sammael had been so recently. There in the middle of the bed laid a feather of obsidian, the darkest shade of black she had ever seen.

In a cautionary movement she laid her hand on top of the feather and pulled it into her grasp. Contrary to her thoughts it was soft, like a down feather. Holding it in her hand she quickly located a clean shirt and slipped it on, the nurse always had extra oxford shirts laying around, the one she seemed to have picked out was a little big, most likely a males.

Reiana carefully place the black feather in the front pocket of the shirt before she carefully maneuvered herself to wake up Aurora and Michael. Michael always seemed to flail when awakened by anyone, and she'd rather not be hit anymore than necessary.

Carefully she nudged Michael, who abruptly sat up and slammed into Aurora. Aurora yelped at the rude awakening of her not so soft pillow, "Ass" she muttered getting up and trudged over to Reiana's side.

Later that day...

Reiana laid on her bed, the obsidian feather shifted from hand to hand as she idly stroked the soft plumage. A soft knock on her door brought her out of her reverie. She shook her head lightly and grunted in response.

"How very beast like honey," Her mother spoke in a light teasing tone, "Your first day back and you've already gotten into a fight. Now let me have a look at that bandage so I can replace it."

"I think it finally stopped oozing blood." She spoke as she prodded the pristine bandage on her abdomen.

"That's good honey, let me have a look." Her mother carefully unwrapped then bandage from around her midsection, noticing that the crevice that was recently there was gone, and all that was left was a bloody smear on the soiled bandage. Her mother quickly ran a warm cloth over the wound to 'clean' it and dried it off, placing a new bandage upon the now healed wound. Knowing full well what had happened she disregarded it and refused to tell Reiana.

"Thanks mother. I think I am going to take a walk to the park. Is that okay? Or do you still think the damage is to much?"

"No, no it's fine, really it is honey, go on." She said with worry in her eyes.

"Thanks mother." She mumbled as she swung her legs over the edge of the bed to get up. She crossed her room to her closet and pulled out a jacket and slipped it on over her school uniform which she hadn't changed out of. "I'll be back later!" she called out and she exited the front door.

She headed down the street to the local park, it was small but comfortable. She had fond memories of playing at the park with Aurora and Michael. But now something just felt so weird. What had she missed? Something was off and she needed time to think on her own. She entering the park and headed to her normal spot, the swings. When they came into her view, she saw someone sitting on the swing next to her preferred place.

Upon further discrete studying she noticed it was a male, and the closer she got the more entranced she became. He had the most gorgeous shoulder length deep brown hair she had ever seen, which was partly tied back leaving some to frame is face and his sapphire blue eyes. He wore a pair of khaki cargo’s and a white polo. She eyed him carefully as she plopped down in the swing next to him.

Gently she pushed off the ground slowing moving foreword and back over the placid sand. Looking over she noticed that he was watching her, abruptly she slammed her foot into the previous undisturbed sand and locked eyes with him.

"Do you want something?" She said cocking her head to the side.

"Do I know you?" De asked in a slight British accent.

"Might have seen me on the news, I was one of those kids that survived the shooting at Saint Luke's." She snorted with disgust.

"Oh, I'm sorry, but I just moved here, and I haven't even heard about that. Must have been terrible." He said with an apologetic look on his face, "I just thought perhaps I had met you before."

"Oh, I'm really sorry about being so rude, perhaps we should start over, I'm Reiana." She said softly.

"Regulus, I'm Regulus." He said with laughter in his voice.

"So Regulus...where you from?" Reiana asked in a soft tone.

"No where really, I don't stay in one place for to long." Regulus grinned and teetered in the swing.

"The stars are really pretty on a night like this." Reiana muttered softly leaning back in her swing lifting her gaze to the blurry heavens.

"Yes, it really is amazing, a being with all the power in the world, to create something so magnificent to behold." He said lifting his hand to a chain around his neck grasping something in his hand.

"Why do I feel like I know you?" Reiana said shifting her gaze to the being not to far from her.

"Because you do." He said the chain around his neck clicked softly and fell to the ground with a soft plunk. Reiana leaned down to pick it up only to look up and find that Regulus was no where in sight.

"Regulus?" She swung her head around searching for the person in question. Grasping the pendant and chain in her hand tightly Reiana stood and twirled. Deciding he was gone she placed the trinket in her pocket and began to walk home.

---

"That was fucking odd." Reiana decided out loud and she stepped out of her clothes and laid down on her bed. "Not every night I met a random guy in the park, who I swear to God I've known before." She mumbled to herself and rolled over onto her stomach, on which she promptly feel asleep.
