Is this a war of pre-emption, or presumption?
This is a question that the second Bush administration has completely failed to answer in the days and months that led to the beginning of this second war with Iraq. To go to war in the name of presumption may as well be equated to a maxim of shooting first, and asking questions later. Why not wait a month, and find out the results famed UN inspectors' mission?
I support the men and women of the United States who are serving in the Middle East, because I am a patriot. I cannot, however, condone motives that do not ring true. This administration has left too many questions hanging without answers.
Who speaks for the Kurds we refused to defend twelve years ago?
Who speaks for the citizens of Iraq not named Saddam Hussein?
What will become of a shattered Iraq?
As a citizen, a voter, and a taxpayer, I ride in every aircraft and in every tank; I am behind every rifle sight. I am ashamed and I don't like it.
At least the Dow will be up tomorrow.
