| People, I cannot
explain how amazing our spot was. I was even speaking with the Pearl
Jam crew (i.e. bouncers and travel crew) before the show started.
Man those bouncers are huge beasts, very cool people.
After the opening act, Super Grass was over, it was time for Pearly Jamma. While Super Grass was on-stage, i was making making eye contact and kind of talking with the lead singer/guitar guy, for that is how close we were to the freeeeeking stage. This set the stage for the band, a band that i relatively like and adore, and contrary to popular belief, I am NOT obsessed with he band!!! The lights went down and you could hear, The Who's, Baba O'Riley on the PA system. By this time I went numb with anticipation, for i knew, it was mere minutes before Ed and his group of astounding boys would take the stage........... |
| It was time, the
band hit the stage and I could not believe what i was seeing. They
were a mere 6 feet away, not the earlier 15 feet i reported way back in
our first row. This was going to be great. Thank you TEN CLUB
for your amazingness, God bless all of you.
I could see every thing they did. When Ed opened his eyes i could see it, when he changed chords from an E minor to a G during "Last Kiss" i could see that. It was utterly amazing. Towards the end of the show when Ed was covered in sweat and he was jumping around doing his thing, you could see the sweat fly off his body. I sound kind of Gay describing this, but I assure you all, i am NOT Gay. At one point, Ed bent down right in front of me to pick something up and i screamed, Eddie play "Trouble". He looked at me smiled and nodded, and when he stood up, strummed the first note of the intro. Okay e did not play the song, but it is all good, he strumed a bit of the intro for me...........I love this band. Mike McCready (Lead Guitar Guy), only the greatest guitarist of all time (okay maybe not better than Hendrix) was completely into the show and was making eye contact with Saba and myself during the whole show. I remember distinctly pointing at him at one time and he stopped playing his guitar riff and looked at me and pointed right freaking back. Man, do you know how that made me feel??? Exceptional. Furthermore, I did the, "we are not worthy" thing to Mike and he looked at me and started to laugh. Pretty dam cool. He even posed for a few pictures as you will see shortly. Since Saba is in love with Stone Gossard (rhythm guitar guy), she was completely into him during the show and at one point, like a crazed school girl she was cheering him and blowing him kisses (I know, and she got mad when i blew Ed kisses), to which Stone responded by laughing hysterically. That was an exceptional moment because he took time out of his busy schedule to look at her and laugh. Unbelievable. All in all it no ones fault, excuses turned to carbon walls....I mean, all in all it was the greatest show in the history of shows. To be right up at stage was like no other. Also if you would like to read about the time i met the band in 1998 click here to go to that site, but first make sure you check out the Montreal 2000 picture page. |
