Summer's Fall

ŠKestner, Jennifer (2005)

She comes in quietly

Careful not to disturb,

She gives no warning

That would be absurd

They all have fun with her

All she allows,

Then she lets them

Have it, Ka-Pow!

Then her wrath pours down

like the rays from the sun,

She could ease up,

But that's no fun

All of a sudden

She felt a push from behind,

"Not very nice" she thought,

No, not very kind

The hands were cold,

She tried to fight back

But Autumn was strong

And strength Summer lacked

Down she went

The fall she could not stop

Autumn had won

Summer had dropped

The people will miss her

After Summer's fall,

But she's not gone

No, not at all.

She is lurking around

She'll visit now and then,

And when the time comes,

She'll rise and fall again.

This may not seem fair

But that's how it's to be,

Autumn gets hers, too,

Just wait and see.
