Part 2 : Symmetrical Diagnosis
1 INT - REHAB PATIENT ROOM - NIGHT 1
The room was dark, except for a small light that came from
the room's personal bathroom. A girl's tearful face was the
only feature seen. She was alone as she raised a gun to her
head.
CUT TO:
2 INT - REHAB NURSE'S STATION - NIGHT 2
A nurse was sitting filling out a chart when the gunshot
jerked her attention away from her work. She leapt up from
her seat and dashed down the hall.
CUT TO:
3 INT - REHAB PATIENT ROOM - NIGHT 3
The door to the room flew open and the light turned on as the
nurse and a staff member stood at the doorway. The two looked
in terror at the bloody mess that use to be a patient.
CROSS-FADE TO:
4 INT - REHAB LOBBY - DAY 4
5 TITLE CARD : ONE MONTH LATER 5
Cristy (early 20's) entered the lobby from outside,
attempting to keep a grasp onto her books and folders. She
finally made it to the receptionist's desk.
RECEPTIONIST
How may I help you?
CRISTY
I'm Cristy Fountain, here to meet Dr Jeph
about talking to some of the patients on
North Unit.
2.
The receptionist pressed a button on her very large phone and
spoke into the speaker.
RECEPTIONIST
Dr Jeph, you have a guest in the lobby.
She then disconnected from the phone.
RECEPTIONIST (CONT'D)
Don't I know you from somewhere?
CRISTY
Who, me?
RECEPTIONIST
You look familiar.
CRISTY
How long have you been working here?
RECEPTIONIST
Long enough.
CRISTY
I use to be in here several years ago.
RECEPTIONIST
Maybe that's it. Do you come here for any
of the 12 step meetings?
CRISTY
No. I never had any of those problems. I
was here because...
Just then the door leading inside the rest of the institute
opened up and Dr Jeph (60s) showed himself.
DR JEPH
(interrupting Cristy)
Cristy, I'm so glad you could make it.
Come inside and I'll show you around and
explain things.
The two walked inside.
3.
CRISTY
You said this is just a temporary thing.
Is that still the case?
DR JEPH
Yes. It's the same situation as I gave
you over the phone but I did not fully
explain what happened here a month ago.
The quickly came to Dr Jeph's office
door.
DR JEPH (CONT'D)
Come inside.
Cristy follows Dr Jeph into his office.
CUT TO:
6 INT - DR JEPH'S OFFICE - DAY 6
They both enter, taking seats on opposite sides of the large
desk, Dr Jeph sitting facing the door.
CRISTY
You said it was an emergency. I don't
really understand how a month later it
could still be an emergency.
DR JEPH
I talked to all these kids as much as I
could but there are a few that I could
never get through to. I was hoping that
you might be able to talk to them and see
what is happening.
CRISTY
What happened a month ago?
DR JEPH
One of our patients killed herself.
Cristy's eyes opened in shock when she
heard this.
4.
DR JEPH (CONT'D)
Somehow she was able to sneak a gun in
here and shot herself at night.
7 CONTINUED: (2) 7
CRISTY
And some of the patients are still shaken
by what happened?
DR JEPH
I'm not sure how they are doing. The main
three I want you to talk to won't really
open up.
CRISTY
Who are they and who is the girl who took
her life?
DR JEPH
The girl is Alison. She was fifteen but
there was nothing pointing to suicidal
tendencies in her history.
CRISTY
And the other three?
DR JEPH
Her roommate Alyssa was in quiet room the
night it happened. Her older sister
Kaitlyn and her boyfriend Steve were both
in their rooms.
CRISTY
Will I be able to talk with the others
about what happened?
DR JEPH
Of course. You will have access to any
charts, patients and staff that you want
to talk to if it will mean you can get
them to talk. I want you to familiarize
yourself with everyone on the unit to get
a good idea of where everyone is at.
5.
CRISTY
Thank you sir. I'll get started right
away.
She stood and walked out of the office
CUT TO:
8 INT - NORTH UNIT - DAY 8
Cristy approached the front door of the unit and held her
badge up to show the nurse inside. The nurse pressed a
button, making a buzzing sound and Cristy opened the door.
Cristy entered the nurse's station, where the head nurse -
Nancy (50s) sat going over several charts. Cristy sets down
her books and folders on one of the counters.
NANCY
You don't have to show your badge to me.
I remember you well enough.
CRISTY
I can't believe you are still here.
NANCY
I've been here for thirty years and I'll
probably be here another twenty.
A girl not more then nineteen walked into the nurse's
station.
NANCY (CONT'D)
Cristy, let me introduce Andrea. She's
interning here.
Cristy gave a look of slight familiarity.
CRISTY
Aren't you a little young to be an
intern?
ANDREA
I'm really smart.
6.
NANCY
We are about to start group. You can get
to know some of the patients from there.
9 CONTINUED: (2) 9
CRISTY
I was hoping to start talking to the main
three as soon as possible.
NANCY
After group you can go and talk to
Alyssa. She's in quiet room again. The
other two have appointments with their
own therapists right after.
Nancy stood from her seat and walked out of the nurse's
station into the day area, followed by Cristy. The more then
dozen teen patients were relaxing at various areas around the
day area. Many were playing various board or card games.
NANCY (CONT'D)
Alright everyone, time for group therapy.
All the patients in the day area stopped what they were doing
and moved to various chairs in the center of the room that
made a circle. The group quickly came together and quieted
down once Nancy sat down. Cristy sat on the opposite side of
the circle from Nancy.
NANCY (CONT'D)
I want everyone to say hello to Cristy.
She's our new M.H.S. You will be seeing a
bit of her around for the next several
weeks.
ALL THE PATIENTS
(unenthusiastically)
Hi Cristy.
CRISTY
Hi everyone.
7.
NANCY
Yesterday we talked about why it is
important to earn trust with your
parents. Did anyone think on that?
ROBBIN
Yeah I thought about it.
NANCY
Robbin?
ROBBIN
I thought that they can go fuck
themselves.
A couple of the other patients started snickering, including
Robbin's twin sister Kelley.
NANCY
Robbin - go to the observation room.
ROBBIN
Fine, you can fuck yourself too, bitch.
More snickering occurred as Robbin walked
over to a nearby door with a window in
it.
NANCY
Kelley? Go to the end of the hall until I
tell you to come back.
KELLEY
But Mrs Patrick...
NANCY
Just do it. I am tired of you two
disrupting things here.
Kelley stands up and stomps down the hall. Robbin slams the
door shut and disappears into the small room.
ROBBIN
GO TO HELL WHORE!
8.
NANCY
This is the behavior I am talking about.
Does anyone know why THAT would cause
your parents to distrust you?
(beat)
Anyone?
10 CONTINUED: (2) 10
ILLYANNA
Because when you call names and throw a
tantrum, it makes them treat you like
children. They can't count on us to act
normal. It embarasses them in public.
NANCY
What else?
STEVE
It shows how they aren't dealing with
things. It shows that they aren't working
the program.
NANCY
Good. Why is all your behavior important?
KAITLYN
You always tell us that everything we do
shows how far we have come and how much
we still have to work on.
NANCY
When you act out, this means you are not
in control of your behavior as much as
you should be.
CROSS-FADE TO:
11 INT - CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY 11
Alyssa sits with her arms crossed, a pouty look on her face.
Cristy enters and Alyssa looks at her. Cristy sits in a chair
across from Alyssa and starts looking at her chart.
9.
ALYSSA
You know you don't have to read through
that thing. I can tell you anything you
wanna know.
Cristy pauses a moment and then closes the chart.
CRISTY
Ok, then tell me why are you here?
ALYSSA
They think I'm crazy.
CRISTY
Who thinks you're crazy?
ALYSSA
Everyone. That's why they diagnosed me
schizophrenic. They think I have a hard
time separating fantasy from reality.
CRISTY
Why do they think that?
ALYSSA
We'll get to that in a little bit. Ask me
about the stuff you came here to ask me.
CRISTY
Why don't you just tell me what is on
your mind.
ALYSSA
You need to ask me.
CRISTY
Fine. Tell me about your roommate.
ALYSSA
See, was that so difficult?
(beat)
Her death isn't what you think.
CRISTY
What was it then?
10.
ALYSSA
I know everything about it. I know what
REALLY happened and why it was done.
CRISTY
Then tell me.
ALYSSA
I can't.
CRISTY
Are you going to play games with me?
ALYSSA
I can't, yet.
CRISTY
Why not?
ALYSSA
I need you to understand things first. I
need you to believe me about things
before I tell you what I know.
CRISTY
What things?
ALYSSA
Everything. You'll understand in the end
why you can't go tell other people things
about what I say. I waited for YOU to be
the one to talk to. I didn't even tell
the other two people that I trust here.
CRISTY
Who are those two?
ALYSSA
First, cut off the recorder. I don't want
anyone else to know anything about any of
this right now.
Cristy looks at Alyssa with curiosity. She then presses a
button on a remote she is carrying with her.
11.
ALYSSA (CONT'D)
Thank you.
CRISTY
So tell me what is going on.
ALYSSA
Alright, do you want my version or their
version of my life?
CRISTY
Why don't you tell me what you think they
are saying about you.
ALYSSA
That I am a schizophrenic. That I
daydream and stay stuck in those day
dreams. That I have delusions of
greatness and that I hallucinate often.
So-called imaginary friends and events.
CRISTY
What would be the reason for them
thinking this about you?
ALYSSA
Some things I use to say.
CRISTY
Like what?
ALYSSA
Like I can see the future and I go on
thirty minute rants about how this or
that will be and for them it is the most
ridiculous thing because of some of those
things include massive radical changes.
CRISTY
You have to admit that most people would
agree that you might have some issues
when you go on for so long talking about
what you see in the future.
12.
ALYSSA
You know it didn't start just recently.
I've been mocked and ridiculed and made
fun of for nearly my whole life. Even
before I started school I had like no
friends.
CRISTY
And how did that make you feel?
ALYSSA
How do you think it made me feel? Like
shit. I mean you can't expect someone to
feel good about themselves if they have
no reason to. Dad always told me to just
get over it - a six year old. You can't
hope to have a normal kid acting normal
when you won't even help them out.
CRISTY
Some parents...
ALYSSA
Yeah yeah, that whole some parents just
don't know and they gain wisdom through
their first child. That's crap. It's a
piss poor excuse for pathetic behavior.
CRISTY
So you don't think they supported you in
things you did when you were a child?
ALYSSA
Let me tell you about something that
happened when I was like seven.
CUT TO:
12 EXT - BACK YARD OF A HOUSE - DAY 12
A seven year old Alyssa is climbing up a tree.
ALYSSA
(v.o.)
I was climbing trees like I always did.
13.
Like all kids do at some point in their
life. Not all kids are great at it though
and accidents happen.
Suddenly she looses grip and falls from the tree, landing on
her wrist. She starts wailing and crying.
CUT TO:
13 INT - KITCHEN - DAY 13
Seven year old Alyssa quickly comes into the kitchen, crying
to her father. He was talking on the phone.
ALYSSA'S DAD
(to phone caller)
Yeah. Go ahead and do that.
ALYSSA
Daddy!
ALYSSA'S DAD
(to phone caller)
Hold on a moment. My daughter is bugging
me for something.
(to Alyssa)
What is it?
ALYSSA
(still crying)
My wrist hurts bad. I fell out of the
tree and it hurts bad.
ALYSSA'S DAD
Go soak it under water and it will be
fine. You'll be ok.
(to phone caller)
Anyways. Yeah, put in the order and I'll
pick it up next week.
Alyssa turned and walked away with her head low, holding her
wrist in her hand.
CUT TO:
14.
14 INT - CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY 14
Alyssa sat, looking sad.
ALYSSA
It wasn't until I woke up screaming at
two in the morning that he finally took
me to have it checked out.
Turns out that it was broken in two places. Bastard didn't
even fucking care.
CRISTY
That's pretty bad.
ALYSSA
I got a nice long shit-list to complain
about but this ain't about my complaints.
This is about how people look at me and a
few other things - right now at least.
CRISTY
I get the gist. You feel ignored in life.
ALYSSA
No matter how right I am, I get no one
listening to what I have to say.
CRISTY
I am here, willing to listen to you.
ALYSSA
Yes, I know. That is why I am willing to
talk with you. I have never sat down and
opened up to Dr Jeph a single day since I
have been here. But there were reasons
for everything.
CRISTY
Why did you get placed in here?
ALYSSA
Yeah, everyone wants to hear my story of
what I call the ultimate betrayal. I am
not the only one that was betrayed.
15.
I didn't even see it coming, but that
will have to wait. Let me explain a few
more things first. I know that it will
sound repetitive but there is a reason
for it all. You'll understand better when
you talk with some of the others, like
the twins.
ALYSSA (CONT'D)
CRISTY
Do you talk to them alot?
ALYSSA
Not really.
(beat)
Did you know that most of the people who
are in here now were connected to a
murder?
CRISTY
You are saying that they each helped in a
murder?
ALYSSA
No, of course not.
(beat)
But that is not what the police were lead
to believe. Try going back and looking at
police records to figure things out.
CRISTY
Those kinds of things are usually
confidential.
ALYSSA
I think you might be able to be creative
enough to figure out something.
CUT TO:
16.
15 INT - ROCK CLUB - NIGHT 15
Lots of loud racket was going on as people were enjoying the
loud music. Orion was walking about the club, looking around,
having a fun time. He walked towards the bathroom.
CUT TO:
16 INT - ROCK CLUB : BATHROOM - NIGHT 16
Christopher is sitting on the floor in one of the bathroom
stalls. He is wedged between the toilet and the stall wall,
with the door wide open. He is looking in a daze. His
unclean, brown hair came down below his neck.
The coffee stains on his shirt looked like they'd been there
for weeks. Orion comes in and looks at Christopher for a
moment. He is more athletic looking and wore much more
stylish clothes.
ORION
You gonna stay there all night?
Christopher mumbles incoherent. His
friend waits a moment before leaving.
A moment later two guys walk in. They see Christopher sitting
on the floor. One of them goes to a stall a few stalls away
while the other one lights up a cigarette.
SMOKER
See what I'm sayin'? That's what I'm
sayin'. It's all bullshit. I mean give me
a fuckin' break. If they wanted it they'd
just take it and do what they want. How
many times do YOU ever get a say in any
of that crap?
The smoker puffs away on his cigarette. His friend comes out
of the stall and washes his hands. The smoker tosses the
cigarette into the sink with the running water.
NON-SMOKER
Like you care?
17.
SMOKER
I care.
NON-SMOKER
Bullshit.
Christopher sits by himself a moment when he hears the
bathroom door open. Footsteps casually make their way towards
him. A man is then standing in front of Christopher. The man
is in a nice business suit and wearing sunglasses. He hovers
a moment in front of Christopher just watching. Christopher
looks up and smiles. The man raises a pistol in his right
hand and points it at Christopher.
The gun has a silencer on it. It goes off, shooting two
bullets into Christopher's head, killing him. The man then
checks Christopher's jacket pockets, and pulls out a piece of
paper he finds there. The hitman then looks at the piece of
paper, before sticking it into his own pocket.
CUT TO:
17 INT - REHAB DAY AREA - DAY 17
Illyanna was looking at a piece of paper she owned. She
looked around a moment and was startled when Alyssa came up
and sat next to her.
ALYSSA
So?
ILLYANNA
So what?
ALYSSA
Don't make me say it.
ILLYANNA
You were right. I told you I wasn't sure
if you were going to be right or not.
ALYSSA
And this means?
18.
ILLYANNA
Fine, I'll do it. I wish you would tell
me why.
ALYSSA
Consider it a Christmas present.
ILLYANNA
Isn't it summer time?
ALYSSA
Spring. It's spring time. Actually it's
April.
ILLYANNA
I never could remember all these stupid
details.
ALYSSA
So you trust me now that I am not just
some freak that has been spying on you.
ILLYANNA
Yeah, I trust you. I always did somewhat.
(beat)
Does Jeff know that you know about me?
ALYSSA
I told him a few things, but he is too by
the book and strict with things regarding
you and this whole thing.
ILLYANNA
But what if something happens?
ALYSSA
Everything will be alright.
ILLYANNA
What about that girl?
19.
ALYSSA
Jeff will take care of her. He definitely
won't be chasing after anyone as long as
she is around. She's more important then
both of us combined.
Alyssa then sees Cristy escorting Steve off the unit towards
the conference room.
ALYSSA (CONT'D)
There they go.
ILLYANNA
I guess I still don't get why you don't
say something about what happened.
ALYSSA
Just because. Things will unfold how they
should. I have to work on Cristy a little
more. Oh by the way, Christopher and
Orion died last night. Don't tell anyone.
They'll figure it out soon enough.
Illyanna looks at Alyssa with worry and surprise at the news.
CUT TO:
18 INT - CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY 18
Steve sat down at the table, his tidy appearance offset by
his intense emotions.
CRISTY
You were Alison's boyfriend, correct?
STEVE
Yeah.
CRISTY
Tell me about it.
STEVE
What do you wanna know?
20.
CRISTY
How long were you dating?
STEVE
A few years now. Maybe five years or so.
CRISTY
So since you were about twelve?
STEVE
It was just stupid stuff at first, but we
got serious after we started high school.
CRISTY
And you two never dated anyone else in
that whole time?
STEVE
Not really. I loved her.
CRISTY
Alot of people loved her I'm sure.
STEVE
Not like me.
CRISTY
And that is why she dumped you?
STEVE
You know about that?
CRISTY
It's in both charts. Most of that type of
stuff is in there.
STEVE
But I didn't really talk much about the
relationship.
CRISTY
Well, someone said something to one of
the staff members.
(beat)
Why do you think that is?
21.
STEVE
Probably thought it was important when it
wasn't.
CRISTY
Why do you think that it isn't important?
You just said you loved her more then
anyone else. Is this what happened a week
before she died?
STEVE
It was one of the things.
CRISTY
How many things were going on with her?
STEVE
Listen, lots of shit goes on with people
all the time. It's not like only one
thing happened when she dumped me.
CRISTY
But it could have been a contributing
factor, right?
STEVE
If I was the one who dumped her, maybe -
but she dumped me. I thought she was ok,
but I was wrong.
CRISTY
If you were in love with her then you had
to know what else was going on in her
life, right? What else did she keep you
out of?
STEVE
I can't really talk about it. It's
private stuff.
CRISTY
I don't think she'll care anymore. This
IS about you and not her.
CUT TO:
22.
19 INT - CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY 19
Kaitlyn was sitting in the seat.
KAITLYN
I'll care. You want me to betray the
trust my sister had with me? I don't
think so.
CRISTY
I'm not wanting you to betray her trust.
Just tell me why YOU think she might have
done it.
KAITLYN
It's no secret that she was unhappy all
the time. She just wanted out,
permanently.
CRISTY
Is that what you think was going on with
her? That it's the reason she killed
herself?
KAITLYN
I'm sure there is more to it. There was
alot up with her that I didn't know
about.
CRISTY
So she shut you out.
KAITLYN
She shut alot of people out recently.
CRISTY
Who else?
KAITLYN
I don't think any of it matters now.
CRISTY
Why doesn't it matter?
23.
KAITLYN
She's dead. It means nothing now.
CRISTY
Sometimes that stuff matters. Like the
little details about her that seem
unimportant become how we remember a
person. The things a person wore or how
they acted or who they did or didn't talk
to. These help us get through troubled
moments when we lose that person.
KAITLYN
It's all old stuff that I don't want to
think about.
CUT TO:
20 INT - CONFERENCE ROOM : STEVE - DAY 20
STEVE
It's not like I don't WANT to remember
her, but it's really painful.
CRISTY
I know. Losing someone you love is a
horrible experience to go through, but
the longer you avoid it the worse it
becomes in the end. I think you have
avoided it a fair amount of time.
STEVE
It's only been a month, and besides I
deal with everything else in my life
without any problems.
CRISTY
Maybe that's why they wanted me to talk
to you, because this is the one area you
keep closed off with.
STEVE
But I don't even know you. I'm supposed
to open up to someone I don't even know?
24.
CRISTY
You have opened up to the other staff
members here and you really don't know
them either. Isn't that what makes this
better and easier on you? You can open up
to someone completely and never have to
worry about where it might end up. I
won't judge you and be negative about
this.
CUT TO:
21 INT - CONFERENCE ROOM : KAITLYN - DAY 21
KAITLYN
You just can't understand what I've been
through. I don't think you can understand
losing a sister like I did.
CRISTY
You'd be surprised at what some people
can understand. Don't underestimate
someone's ability to sympathize with you.
KAITLYN
Did you ever have a younger sister kill
herself?
CRISTY
No.
KAITLYN
Then how can you possibly begin to
understand ANYTHING I am going through?
CRISTY
I have seen my fair share of death. I
don't have to have experienced the same
events and tragedies to understand what
you are going through.
25.
KAITLYN
It's not just this though. There is so
much that I have been through - even
beyond this and she was there through so
much of it. Like when we both almost got
busted during a drug deal.
CRISTY
Almost? How did you get out of it?
KAITLYN
Steve was connected at the time. People
he knew helped out
CUT TO:
22 INT - CONFERENCE ROOM : STEVE - DAY 22
STEVE
It was my other life. This was back when
I was doing alot of drugs and other
stuff.
CRISTY
It says that several weeks ago you were a
dealer.
STEVE
Yeah - I did before. That was a whole
lifetime ago. Things are different now.
CRISTY
You don't deal anything now?
STEVE
I had a small falling out with some
people.
CRISTY
Your supplier?
STEVE
Somewhat.
26.
CRISTY
Are you afraid of some backlash?
STEVE
No, not anymore. I made a deal with him
that keeps me safe. I gave him some stuff
and money that will keep him away from
me. I also don't deal anymore so he could
care less.
CRISTY
Who is this guy that was your supplier?
STEVE
His name is Tran. He takes care of almost
the entire city. Drugs, guns and whores.
If there is something he can make money off of he'll deal it.
He's like some kingpin godfather. If he wants someone dead
they'll be dead sooner or later. Mostly sooner. Cristy gave
Steve a strange look.
23 EXT - ONE LEVEL HOUSE - NIGHT 23
The hitman stands looking at the house. Several lights are on
inside. No other house is around.
CUT TO:
24 INT - DINNING ROOM - NIGHT 24
A family is preparing for supper.
NIKKI'S DAD
Where is Nikki?
NIKKI'S MOM
I think she is in her room. She's been
there all day.
NIKKI'S DAD
(yelling)
NIKKI!!!
27.
NIKKI'S BROTHER
She can't hear you. She's got her
headphones on.
NIKKI'S DAD
Eat your peas.
Nikki's dad gets up from the table and walks down the hall.
CUT TO:
25 INT - NIKKI'S BEDROOM - NIGHT 25
Nikki sat on her bed with her headphones on. She starred at a
small piece of paper she was holding. The door opened and her
father stood at the doorway.
The music in the headphones was so loud that Nikki heard
nothing but the music. Her dad stood at the door, waiting.
Nikki looked up from the piece of paper to see her dad. She
removed the headphones to hear what he had to say.
NIKKI'S DAD
You coming to eat with us?
NIKKI
No.
NIKKI'S DAD
You don't want to eat?
NIKKI
I'm not hungry.
NIKKI'S DAD
I'll save you something if you get hungry
later.
Her dad then left the doorway, closing the door as he walked
away.
CUT TO:
28.
26 EXT - ONE LEVEL HOUSE - NIGHT 26
The hitman began walking towards the house.
CUT TO:
27 INT - NIKKI'S BEDROOM - NIGHT 27
Nikki sat, continuing to look at the piece of paper and
listening to her music way too loudly. The sounds of muzzled
gunfire and screams are heard, but not by Nikki as her music
continued to overwhelm any exterior sound. Suddenly her
bedroom door opened, revealing the hitman at her doorway. She
looked up a moment and saw him holding a pistol with a
silencer on it in his right hand.
She pulled off her headphones. The hitman raised his gun and
fired at Nikki several times, killing her.
CUT TO:
28 EXT - ONE LEVEL HOUSE - NIGHT 28
The hitman came out of the house, holding the piece of paper
that Nikki was previously looking at.
CUT TO:
29 INT - NIKKI'S BEDROOM - DAY 29
Two detectives are looking over the crime scene. They are
quickly joined by Cristy.
DETECTIVE 1
Can I help you?
Cristy holds up a badge to the two detectives - away from the
audiences view. She then puts it back into her pocket.
CRISTY
How many people were killed?
DETECTIVE 1
Six people in total. The four at the
table eating.
29.
Another was in the back bedroom, and then
this one. Her name is Linda Nicole Sams.
CRISTY
Anything stolen?
DETECTIVE 2
Nothing discovered yet.
CRISTY
What about the ring on her right hand?
CUT TO:
30 CLOSE UP OF NIKKI'S RIGHT HAND AND A PALE LINE IS BARELY30
NOTICEABLE ON HER RING FINGER.
CUT TO:
31 INT - NIKKI'S BEDROOM - DAY 31
CRISTY
That would indicate that we need to
examine HER life more closely. Thank you
detective.
Cristy then looks around. She kneels on the ground and gets a
different perspective. She takes a closer look at the body
for a moment before standing again.
CROSS-FADE TO:
32 INT - INSTITUTE : COURT YARD - DAY 32
Cristy sat nearby to the twins and Illyanna. They were at a
table under some shade from a tree.
CRISTY
Did you three know Alison pretty well?
KELLEY
Not really.
ROBBIN
They had their group and we have ours.
30.
CRISTY
So you don't talk much to Kaitlyn and
Steve?
ROBBIN
Fuck no. Why would I? Not like they give
a shit about anyone but themselves.
ILLYANNA
Alison wasn't like them though.
ROBBIN
Yeah right. They're all snobs.
KELLEY
You have to ignore my sister sometimes.
She's obnoxious.
ROBBIN
(flicking off Kelley)
Ignore this bitch.
ILLYANNA
I talked to Alison a few times. Last time
was a week before the incident.
CRISTY
What did you talk with her about.
ILLYANNA
(to the twins)
Can you two leave us alone for a minute.
Kelley stands up.
ROBBIN
Why don't you leave? We were here first.
ILLYANNA
You'll get your turn to talk to her soon
enough. Don't worry, I won't leave you
out of the loop.
Kelley grabs Robbin and pulls her away to give the other two
privacy.
31.
ILLYANNA (CONT'D)
(beat)
I was told to watch what I say to you.
That you might not be our friend.
CRISTY
Who told you that?
ILLYANNA
Some of the other kids, and a couple of
staff members.
CRISTY
Why do you think I'm here?
ILLYANNA
I don't know. The only two people I trust
in this place at all is Jeff and Alyssa
and Alyssa told me to trust you. Do you
know them from anywhere?
CRISTY
I knew Jeff when I was in here. He was a
staff member then too.
ILLYANNA
So you were in this place?
CRISTY
Yeah. Please though don't tell anyone.
ILLYANNA
Aren't you supposed to keep those
boundaries private? Staff aren't supposed
to share their personal lives with
patients.
CRISTY
I don't know. I think it was something
Jeff mentioned before I started here
about you.
ILLYANNA
So why were you in here?
32.
CRISTY
I was having an M.R.I. and a BEAM test.
ILLYANNA
BEAM test?
CRISTY
Brain Electronic Activity Mapping. It's
where they glue a bunch of suction cups
to your scalp and find out how your brain
is behaving.
ILLYANNA
Sounds fun. Did they find anything?
33 CONTINUED: (2) 33
CRISTY
I have a large amount of electrical
activity, mostly on the right side of my
brain. Someone suggested that's why I am
so weird. Alot of weird shit going on at
that time.
ILLYANNA
Alot of weird shit going on now.
CRISTY
Tell me about it.
ILLYANNA
It's like some weird bubble of
bizarreness is covering this whole place.
CRISTY
So you felt it too.
I saw one of the weirdest things I ever saw here. It was
weirder then anything I could even imagine.
ILLYANNA
What happened?
33.
CRISTY
We'll get into that later. Why don't you
tell me about what you talked about with
Alison before she died.
ILLYANNA
We talked like every couple weeks. Not
like some stupid conversation. We opened
up to each other about alot of stuff. I
opened up to her about everything. Well
maybe not EVERYTHING - that would just be
stupid to tell her about where I come
from.
CRISTY
Why would that be stupid?
ILLYANNA
I wish I could tell you, but I can't.
Maybe I can sometime - but not right now.
But a week before it happened, she came
to me and talked.
CUT TO:
34 INT - INSTITUTE : DAY AREA - NIGHT 34
Illyanna is sitting reading a book when Alison walks up to
her.
ALISON
We need to talk.
Illyanna sets her book down.
ILLYANNA
OK, talk.
ALISON
Not here. You need to use one of your
grounds passes.
ILLYANNA
I'm not gonna waste one of those. I only
have two of those.
34.
ALISON
And you never get any visitors. You have
had two for the past month unused. This
is important.
ILLYANNA
Fine, but it better be important. We only
have like an hour before lights out.
CUT TO:
35 EXT - INSTITUTE : COURTYARD - NIGHT 35
Illyanna and Alison walked through the courtyard. Alison
looked a little paranoid and worried.
ILLYANNA
What's wrong? Why did you need me?
ALISON
I needed to get out here to talk to meet
up with him.
ILLYANNA
Oh, I see. I'm just used so you can go
fuck George.
ALISON
It's more important then that.
ILLYANNA
Whatever. Have your fun but never ask to
talk to me again. If they found out I
helped you I'd lose my level 4 status.
ALISON
This isn't about having fun. I need to
talk to him.
ILLYANNA
If you wouldn't have gotten him fired
from here you could see him every day.
Alison sits a moment in quiet. Suddenly
nearby a man about six feet tall walks
into the courtyard.
35.
He stops several yards away. He looks at
Alison in an angry way.
ILLYANNA (CONT'D)
Aren't you going to go over and talk to
him?
ALISON
Remember how I opened up to you and told
you alot about me? Well you were the only
one I trusted here. Everyone else expects
different things from me. You were the
only person in here that I didn't lie to,
remember that.
They then hug, Alison slipping a small piece of paper into
Illyanna's hand.
ALISON (CONT'D)
It's from you know who. Alison then
rushes over to George. Illyanna watches
their interactions. She opens the piece
of paper and looks at it and a moment
later Alison and George were in a heated
argument.
ALISON (CONT'D)
You don't understand. It wasn't me.
GEORGE
I get it. I know you're full of shit. I
can't fucking deal with this anymore. My
whole life has gone to shit because of
this.
ALISON
What are you saying?
GEORGE
We can't go on like this. It's not
working. If I wanna talk to you, I'll
contact you - until then don't call me.
It's over.
36.
George walks away into the night shadows. Alison was left
crying. Illyanna came over to her and helped walk her back
inside as she continued to cry.
CUT TO:
36 EXT - INSTITUTE : COURTYARD - DAY 36
Illyanna and Cristy were now standing in the area that Alison
and George were last seen together.
ILLYANNA
This is where that happened.
CRISTY
So you think she killed herself because
George dumped her?
ILLYANNA
(beat)
Can I give you the piece of paper she
gave me? Can I trust you with it?
CRISTY
Of course.
ILLYANNA
If I give this to you, then you have to
keep it to yourself. There are only three
people I trust in this place.
CRISTY
I thought you said there were only two
people.
ILLYANNA
I trust you. I think I know who you are
and what you are about.
Illyanna hands the piece of paper to Cristy and walks away.
Cristy opens the piece of paper and looks at what is written
on it, then folds it up and sticks it in her pocket.
CUT TO:
37.
37 INT - CONFERENCE ROOM - ALYSSA 37
Alyssa was sitting talking again with Cristy. Cristy stood,
hovering over Alyssa in an anxious way. Cristy slides the
piece of paper in front of her.
ALYSSA
What's that?
CRISTY
I think you know what it is.
(beat)
That's your hand writing, isn't it?
ALYSSA
And if it is?
CRISTY
I need some answers right now.
ALYSSA
I can't give you all the answers right
now. Maybe in two days I can tell you a
little more.
CRISTY
What happens in two days?
(beat)
Fuck it. Tell me about this note.
ALYSSA
What do you wanna know?
CRISTY
Did you write it?
ALYSSA
Tell me this first, is it going to
incriminate me in Alison's murder and did
you tell anyone about the note yet?
CRISTY
No.
38.
ALYSSA
No on which part?
CRISTY
On both parts.
ALYSSA
I know that. I just wanted you to admit
it. I wanna make sure you answer me
without trying to manipulate me how most
shrinks do to teen patients. I am NOT
going to deal with condescending
attitudes towards me. Now you can sit
down and relax and I will explain a few
things to you.
Cristy sat down in the chair and sat back to be comfortable.
CUT TO:
38 EXT - COURT YARD - DAY 38
Robbin, Kelley and Illyanna sat at the same shaded table as
before. Cristy walked up and sat down with the three girls.
ROBBIN
(reading a magazine)
What now? Do we have to get up and go
only to have you just abandon the table
again? I won't do it this time. Find your
own fucking spot.
CRISTY
(to Kelley)
Is she always like this?
KELLEY
Only to people.
ILLYANNA
Don't worry. She won't always be like
this. She'll came the hell down soon.
ROBBIN
Whatever future girl.
39.
CRISTY
(looking at Illyanna)
Future girl?
KELLEY
It's what we call her because she keeps
talking about how she thinks things are
going to be like in the future.
Personally I think she's just been
hanging out with Alyssa too much and
picking up some her bad ideas.
CRISTY
You think Alyssa is a bad girl?
ROBBIN
She's smart and creative and not one of
these fucking sheep that are everywhere,
but she's still a freak.
ILLYANNA
Don't mind her. I just have a feeling
about things. Call it a psychic thing
about what is in store for the planet.
ROBBIN
Yeah - right.
ILLYANNA
What's that supposed to mean?
ROBBIN
A war starting in Atlanta? The only war
starting in Atlanta is maybe a retail war
or battle of the bands.
CRISTY
You think a war is going to start in
Atlanta?
40.
ILLYANNA
Just a gut feeling. I kinda say simple
stuff to most people like given a few
thousand years that the earth will be a
desert waste. The sun COULD explode
within 10,000 years. By the end of the
century we'll have humans scattered all
over the universe and Atlantis will be
proven to exist in the next ten years.
ROBBIN
Yeah, but she slipped up and started
spouting off a few more detailed
predictions.
(to Illyanna)
You know no one but Alyssa believes any
of that shit. Everything is just going to
keep going the way it has for thousands
of years. Boring, boring and more boring
crap to live through.
KELLEY
I kinda believe her.
ROBBIN
You would.
CRISTY
So you think that nothing different
happens?
ROBBIN
I have never seen anything different
happen. More of the same junk over and
over.
ILLYANNA
You will soon enough.
ROBBIN
What, am I going to win the lottery? Fly
to the moon.
41.
ILLYANNA
Not the moon.
ROBBIN
We haven't even been back to the moon in
like thirty years. Nothing changes THAT
much. When I hear they have learned
something new then I'll believe it.
CRISTY
I have seen something that was different.
ROBBIN
Yeah right.
KELLEY
What have you seen?
39 CONTINUED: (2) 39
ROBBIN
CRISTY
It was actually right here in this
building on our unit.
ROBBIN
What, lollipops that float by themselves?
That would be the acid setting it.
KELLEY
Robbin, shut the fuck up for once. You
always go on and on about this shit. Can
you fucking keep a god damn open mind for
once? I mean you might be my twin sister
but just shut the fuck up and listen.
Everyone else in this place is a tool but
I was told by three different people to
listen to what this lady had to say.
Robbin looks in shock a moment before attempting to stand up.
Kelley grabbed her and set her back down.
KELLEY (CONT'D)
You're also going to fucking listen.
42.
ROBBIN
Why? What's the point?
KELLEY
Alyssa told me you were going to do this
and say everything you just said -
exactly the way you said it. She said you
had to listen, that we all needed to
listen. If you don't then I am going to
beat your ass down.
ROBBIN
Fine, whatever. That doesn't mean I'm
going to actually believe anything she
has to say.
KELLEY
(beat)
You can continue now.
CRISTY
(to Illyanna)
This is what I was talking about
yesterday.
ILLYANNA
The weird stuff that was happening when
you were here?
CRISTY
Yeah.
ROBBIN
Wait, you were in here?
CRISTY
Yes, but you can't go telling other
people.
ROBBIN
Oh this is just so perfect. I'm getting
help from a nutcase.
43.
CRISTY
Don't assume something when you know
nothing about any of it.
KELLEY
Why were you in here?
CRISTY
I was getting some testing done. I
applied to a school that required certain
testing.
ILLYANNA
The classical academy?
CRISTY
Yeah. How did you know?
ILLYANNA
Just a hunch. Did they decline you?
CRISTY
No. I actually worked for them up until
about six months ago or so. When I came
in here for testing I ended up being in
here for like a while.
ROBBIN
They thought you were crazy - right?
(beat)
Sorry. Go on.
CRISTY
It was back about five years ago. These
two girls, Jennifer and Amelia were about
to leave.
CUT TO:
40 INT. - INSTITUTE : MAIN HALLWAY - NIGHT 40
There were two staff members on duty. The male staff member
began doing checks of the rooms. He stood from his seat where
he was writing some information in a chart. He grabbed the
flashlight nearby and walked towards the hallway.
44.
There was a mattress on the floor of the hall and someone was
sitting on it. He was holding a stuffed dog in his arms as he
sat there reading "The Cat In The Hat". He wore some sort of
cloth hood that covered most of his head except the face.
JEFF (THE STAFF MEMBER)
(To the boy on the mattress in
the hall)
Lay down and go to sleep Fluffy.
FLUFFY
Come on Jeff, let me just finish this
chapter.
JEFF
Fine, but after that chapter you better
put the book up.
He lightly knocked on the door and entered scanning the
flashlight around.
Everything was quiet and both patients were in bed. The 2nd
room he went to was Jennifer and Amelia's room. There was
some noise coming from their room. He knocked on the door.
AMELIA
(Slightly hyperactive)
How might I help you?
JEFF
Are you girls appropriate?
JENNIFER
I don't know, are we?
AMELIA
Isn't that why we're locked up?
JEFF
Seriously - are you guys dressed?
45.
AMELIA
You can come in - just don't look
directly at us and we won't blind you.
Jeff cautiously entered the room.
CUT TO:
41 INT. - JENNIFER AND AMELIA'S ROOM - NIGHT 41
JEFF
Alright you two. Lights and music off.
It's a half-hour past bedtime.
JENNIFER
But I still have to iron
(Looking around grabs the first
thing she finds - a sock)
42 THIS! 42
JEFF
I'm not gonna let you two do this to me
tonight. Get to bed.
I know you are getting out this week, but you had your party
last night. Now get to bed or I'll make you sleep out in the
hall with Fluffy.
FLUFFY
(Coming from out in the hall)
YAY! COMPANY!
JENNIFER
Hush Fluffy.
JEFF
Don't tell him to hush.
(To fluffy)
Hush Fluffy
(To the girls)
Now get to bed - right now. You two will
have plenty of time to stay up late
tomorrow.
46.
AMELIA
Yeah, but it's not as fun as it is in
here.
JEFF
Just get to bed. I have enough to deal
with outside of you two.
JENNIFER
I'll let you kiss me if you let us stay
up.
JEFF
I don't think so. You know
JENNIFER
Yes - all the boundaries crap.
JEFF
Just get to bed.
JENNIFER
Alright - we're going.
JEFF
JEFF (CONT'D)
I'll be back in 10 minutes to see if you
are asleep.
CUT BACK TO
43 INT - MAIN HALLWAY - NIGHT 43
Jeff closed their door and began to check on the other
patients. He heard some water running towards the end of the
hall so he walked down there. When he got to the last door -
he knocked then entered the room.
44 INT - NURSE'S STATION - NIGHT 44
Nancy was sitting working on some chart reports when she was
distracted by Jeff's telling.
47.
JEFF
FUCK!
Jeff jumped out into the hall yelling down to the Nancy.
JEFF (CONT'D)
CODE 99 STAT!
NANCY (THE NURSE)
Damn it!
Nancy dropped everything she was doing and grabbed the phone.
She pushed the intercom button. Her voice is heard on the
intercom over the entire rehab center.
NANCY (CONT'D)
CODE 99 - North Unit - STAT! Repeat! CODE
99 - North Unit - STAT! Suddenly two
staff members from the next door unit
rush to North Unit.
Nancy points them towards the room and they rush that way.
Moments later two staff members wheeled an emergency
stretcher onto the unit. Three staff members took her off the
unit including Jeff. One of the other unit staff members
began picking up the mess in the room.
All the other patients on the unit were trying to figure out
what happened. The other staff member got everyone else on
the unit to settle down.
STAFF MEMBER 1
Everything is going to be okay everyone.
Just go back to bed and you'll find out
what happened tomorrow during group.
Staff member 1 then entered the nurse's
station and the other one went to his
unit.
STAFF MEMBER 1 (CONT'D)
I'll start to write this one up for Jeff.
48.
NURSE
(Searching for a file)
I hope I can get a hold of her parents
this late.
The staff member pulled out a pad of forms and tore one off.
He began filling out the form when he heard some commotion
from the hallway.
STAFF MEMBER 1
(Yelling down the hall)
You all know my policy. If I hear
something out of you, you sleep out here
or in quiet room. Quiet room is empty
tonight so I won't have a problem with
that.
Suddenly the chatter died down to a minimum.
45 CLOSE IN ON A SHOT OF THE NURSE'S STATION CLOCK. 45
CROSS-FADE TO:
46 THE CLOCK READING SEVERAL HOURS LATER. 46
47 INT. - NURSE'S STATION - NIGHT 47
NANCY
(To the staff member sitting in
a chair)
Jeff is back. You can go back to your unit. Jeff comes onto
the unit and went into the nurse's station. He closed the
nurse's station door and sat down in a chair.
NANCY (CONT'D)
What happened?
JEFF
She's gonna live but she's still
unconscious. Her stats looked normal when
I left.
(beat)
I thought that she said she was feeling
good yesterday?
49.
NANCY
She did, and she seemed like she was
making progress.
JEFF
When she comes back she's going to spend
at least two weeks on O.U.
NANCY
What a shame. She just started opening up
too.
JEFF
Do you know if she talked to her family
today at all?
NANCY
I think she did have a visit today from
her mom. Her mother left and it didn't
seem like there was a problem. I hope she
opens up about this.
JEFF
She won't have much of a choice. She
tried to drown herself. She won't be able
to just run away from something like
that.
NANCY
We should do safety precautions here
tomorrow.
JEFF
I don't think that's necessary. It's not
like the entire group was trying to run
away or anything. One girl tried to kill
herself. We'll just question everyone
tomorrow and see what people know.
NANCY
Dr Jeph will probably insist.
50.
JEFF
You handle the meds and the charts and
I'll handle him on this one. I think I'll
be able to convince him of my way.
NANCY
I know this is not the best of time but
we have a new patient coming in shortly.
JEFF
Ahhh fuck! When?
NANCY
Within the hour.
JEFF
Great, just great. What's the name?
NANCY
His name is David.
JEFF
David?
NANCY
Yes sir.
JEFF
And the one that came in earlier today?
NANCY
Her name is Sydney I believe.
JEFF
Syd and David? Ok, that's fine. I'll
write up his file.
NANCY
You sure?
JEFF
Oh, without a doubt. The night's not over
yet.
CUT TO:
51.
48 INT - INSTITUTE : DAY AREA - NIGHT 48
David is sitting on a chair when Jeff comes up to him.
JEFF
We aren't putting you on the observation
unit. We need that for this girl that
attempted suicide earlier tonight. You'll
be in room 3 with Michael. Go ahead down
there and he'll fill you in on things
here.
David stood and walked down the hall towards the room. He
entered and looked around. Michael sat on his bed.
DAVID
You must be Michael.
MICHAEL
Yeah. And you are?
DAVID
David.
They go to shake hands and the moment they make contact a
burst of energy hit both and they were blown back from each
other.
CUT TO:
49 INT - INSTITUTE : CRISTY'S ROOM - NIGHT 49
Cristy stood up after being knocked on the floor. Jennie
watched in shock as her cigarette hung from her lips. She
looked around and the walls started to become transparent.
Cristy looked behind her at Jennie for a brief moment when
Jennie suddenly vanished. Cristy turned back around and
looked across the entire rehab unit. All the walls were a
glowing transparency. Several of the other patients at first
were seen then vanished.
CUT TO:
52.
50 INT - INSTITUTE : AMELIA'S ROOM - NIGHT 50
Amelia and Jennifer were seeing the same things. Amelia was
glowing gold while Jennifer glowed blue. David, Michael and
Cristy also all glowed gold. Syd looked on from the
observation unit, also glowing blue. Aricka and Alex were
both glowing blue from other rooms on the unit. As the walls
vanished and they could not recognize any landmarks they saw
several blue dots in the distance. Some blue dots were larger
then others.
CRISTY
Can any one tell me what's going on?
MICHAEL
I think we're all as lost as you are.
Around them swarmed colorful glowing
lights. The four main people were
suddenly overwhelmed by bursts of energy.
CUT TO:
51 INT - REHAB : NURSE'S STATION - NIGHT 51
Jeff was sitting when suddenly the power went out.
JEFF
Damn it! I should have known.
CUT TO:
52 INT - REHAB : AMELIA AND JENNIFER'S ROOM - NIGHT 52
Jennifer and Amelia looked at each other then sat on their
beds looking at each other.
CUT TO:
53 EXT - INSTITUTE : COURTYARD - DAY 53
Cristy was again sitting with Illyanna and the twins at the
table.
53.
CRISTY
We are not really sure what it was that
happened but I am starting to figure out
some of it.
ROBBIN
I can tell you what it was.
KELLEY
Shut it Robbin. I don't think we need to
hear your mouth on this anymore.
ROBBIN
What, you expect me to believe all that
shit about glowing walls and glowing
people of gold and blue? You're as insane
as the others.
Robbin stands up from the table and walks away. Kelley stands
up and follows.
ILLYANNA
I believe you. I think Kelley is
convinced.
CRISTY
Yeah, but why did I need to tell you
three? Alyssa was insistent on it but I
really can't understand why.
ILLYANNA
I'm sure you will figure out eventually.
CRISTY
What is it about you? You are so
different from everyone else here. It's
like I know you but I don't.
ILLYANNA
Maybe I look like someone you know.
54.
CRISTY
If I didn't know better I would say you
were Jennifer's sister or something but I
know that isn't possible. She has two
sisters but you aren't either of them.
ILLYANNA
I don't have any sisters. The only family
I ever knew was my mother Michelle. She
died when I was really young. She left me
a couple of heirlooms and that's all I
have left of my family.
CRISTY
Is that why you are in here?
ILLYANNA
First, can you tell me more about you
working for the Classical Academy?
CRISTY
Why? Does it matter?
ILLYANNA
I'm just curious. You could easily know
alot of what you do and ACT like you are
something that you aren't working for
them. Are you STILL working for them?
CRISTY
I never REALLY worked for them.
ILLYANNA
So are you someone I can trust? Someone
who might be familiar with Atae? Cristy
looks up in shock.
CRISTY
Arieondo.
Each set down in front of them a medallion that had the same
carvings in them of a symbol that contained many triangles.
55.
A moment later after seeing one another's medallion they
snatched their medallions back up. They each put their
medallions in their pockets.
ILLYANNA
So I CAN trust you.
CRISTY
So tell me what happened. Why are you
here?
ILLYANNA
First you.
CUT TO:
54 EXT - COURTYARD - ROBBIN AND KELLEY - DAY 54
Kelley was trying to catch up with Robbin.
KELLEY
Robbin? Wait up. Stop running away.
Robbin stopped, looking outside the fence
towards the sun. Kelley caught up with
her. Robbin was tearing up slightly.
KELLEY (CONT'D)
Robbin, what's wrong?
ROBBIN
You guys! That's what's wrong. You keep
letting her be right.
KELLEY
Who? Cristy?
ROBBIN
No, not Cristy. Who the fuck do you
think?
Who is the one person who has been completely right about
everything that has happened?
KELLEY
You mean Alyssa?
56.
ROBBIN
Of course. I just don't want to believe
everything works like this.
KELLEY
Works like what?
ROBBIN
That someone can be that psychic. If she
is that psychic then everything she's
told us was true.
KELLEY
Is that such a bad thing?
ROBBIN
She said alot of scary shit. You remember
all the shit she told us, right?
KELLEY
Yeah, I remember. It just means that
we're going to live alot better life
soon.
ROBBIN
Are we? I don't wanna fight anyone's war.
I don't want to be some freak flying
across the galaxy and you think I want to
always be attached to people I met in
here?
KELLY
It can't be that bad. Everyone she talked
about were nice people.
ROBBIN
I just want to live life and have fun. I
miss going to the mall and parties as it
is. How do you think I am going to feel
when I go somewhere that doesn't have
anything I am use to. And what about
everything else she said?
57.
KELLEY
What about it?
ROBBIN
I like this planet.
KELLEY
There's alot of time before that happens.
Maybe she'll be wrong about some of this
shit.
ROBBIN
She's only been wrong once and that was
because I changed my mind after she said
her answer.
KELLEY
See, there is still something to be said
about freewill. And besides - it's not
like she told us every detail.
ROBBIN
We know how we are probably going to die.
KELLEY
Not if we make it change.
ROBBIN
I wish I could just forget everything she
ever told us.
KELLEY
Whatever you are going to go through, I'm
going to go through too - remember that.
ROBBIN
Not everything.
CUT TO:
55 EXT - INSTITUTE : COURTYARD - DAY 55
Illyanna and Cristy continued to talk.
58.
ILLYANNA
So you decided to switch the crystal into
a safety deposit box that only YOU knew
about?
CRISTY
Yeah. The only one who has any
information about it is my friend Tyler.
They made me make a choice - him or them
and I made my choice.
ILLYANNA
What if there is alot more to it then
just what you are seeing. What if that
crystal is part of a much bigger event or
object.
CRISTY
Whatever it is part of I can't afford for
them to get their hands on it. They
kidnapped Kent's sister and are pissed
that they didn't get the crystal from me.
I had to bullshit my way through all
that. I won't let them use me to do
anything to Tyler. Kent was killed and I
think they have something to do with it.
His other sister Sarah is going to try
and find Michelle.
ILLYANNA
So what are you going to do, just keep
the crystal hidden?
CRISTY
Until I know that everyone I care about
is safe.
ILLYANNA
You keep talking about that crystal. I
can't help but bring up what brought me
here.
CROSS-FADE TO:
59.
56 INT - MANSION : MAIN ENTRANCE - NIGHT 56
The inside of the mansion was very dark. The only light that
illuminated the area was that from several emergency lights
scattered about. Illyanna entered the eerie mansion, carrying
a flashlight.
ILLYANNA
(calling out)
Professor? Are you here? No answer was
heard. She then began to walk through the
mansion, letting her flashlight guide the
way.
57 INT - MANSION : UPSTAIRS HALL - NIGHT 57
She came upon the private office of the professor and the
door was cracked part of the way open. The room inside glowed
through the crack. She pushed open the door to see the room
on fire - blazing up in flames. The professor's dead body lie
in the middle of the room, partly on fire. His throat clearly
had been slit. It appeared as if the room was ransacked
before it had been torched. All the papers within were all
burning.
ILLYANNA
(screaming in panic)
Professor!!!
Illyanna made a mad dash inside. She threw a chair aside and
lifted the carpet.
Quickly she pulled up a panel in the floor revealing a
compartment in the floor. She rushed to pull out a small box
inside before rushing off out of the mansion.
CUT TO:
58 EXT - WOODED AREA NEAR THE MANSION - NIGHT 58
Illyanna was on a cell phone.
ILLYANNA
Of course I'm ok but the professor is
dead. His office was torched.
60.
(beat)
Yeah, I was able to grab it. Everything
else is lost that he was working on. I'm
going to come back to you.
(beat)
How can that be any more dangerous? I
nearly got my ass killed here.
(beat)
That doesn't matter. The one man that was
protecting me, or at least my secret is
dead and I don't trust anyone else out
here. I'll be there tomorrow.
Illyanna closed her cell phone and watched from a distance as
the mansion burned.
CROSS-FADE TO:
59 EXT - INSTITUTE : COURTYARD - DAY 59
Cristy was sitting slightly in awe.
CRISTY
You were the one the professor was taking
care of?
ILLYANNA
You know the professor?
CRISTY
He was a friend of mine. That was the
night Kent was killed.
ILLYANNA
Do you think the professor and Kent's
deaths have anything to do with each
other?
CRISTY
I would bet money on it.
ILLYANNA
If that is true then I might have
something you need.
Illyanna lays a key up on the table and slides it to Cristy.
61.
CRISTY
Now what, we team up or something?
ILLYANNA
You'll have to go find out on your own. I
can't go with you.
CRISTY
Why? What's going on?
ILLYANNA
I can't really tell you right now. After
my tests tomorrow I'll tell you more. The
note I gave you was written by Alyssa by
the way.
Illyanna stands up and leaves Cristy sitting at the table.
FADE OUT.
FADE IN:
60 EXT - INSTITUTE : POWER BOX - NIGHT 60
The power box exploded in a massive eruption. The power all
around went out.
CUT TO:
61 INT - INSTITUTE : MAIN HALL - NIGHT 61
The teen unit door burst open and out ran five familiar
teens. Steve and Kaitlyn were first, followed by the twins
and lastly Illyanna. They came down the hall towards the
lobby. They rushed through the lobby and out into the parking
lot.
CUT TO:
62 EXT - INSTITUTE : PARKING LOT - NIGHT 62
An SUV was waiting, engine running with it's lights off. The
vehicles lights sudddenly came on and the kids ran towards
it. They all piled inside and the SUV sped away.
CUT TO:
62.
63 INT - SUV - NIGHT 63
Everyone was silent as the vehicle rushed down the road.
Robbin turns to Jennie - the driver.
ROBBIN
You must be Jennie.
JENNIE
Are you Robbin or Kelley?
ROBBIN
Robbin. You're friends with Laura?
JENNIE
Pretty close. We met inside there. She
said you needed help and any time I can
help someone get the hell out of there
it's cool.
ROBBIN
What do I owe you?
JENNIE
You got lucky. A friend is paying the gas
and food on this. We have a safe house
too for you to hide out in down in
Orlando.
STEVE
Is it safe?
JENNIE
Safe enough. Are any of us really THAT
safe anymore? I got some friends that
will help you though.
CUT TO:
64 INT - SCIENCE LAB - NIGHT 64
Two teens were sitting, relaxing in the science lab. Carly
was about eighteen. She looked unhappy. The other was Jimmy,
someone that was slightly older.
63.
CARLY
Why are we here again?
JIMMY
Jennie said she needed us to take care of
some people.
CARLY
(making a her hands into a gun)
Take care of?
JIMMY
God no. She needs help hiding them.
Suddenly the door opens up and in walks
Todd.
CARLY
Oh god. Fucking spare me.
JIMMY
This isn't a good time Todd.
TODD
Come on guys. Give me a break. I got
something good this time.
JENNIE
JIMMY
Are you still working on the project?
TODD
No, but that isn't my fault.
JIMMY
David didn't renew your internship for a
reason.
TODD
Fuck the internship. I got something
important here. I found something.
64.
JIMMY
If I look at what you got and I still
don't give a shit then will you leave me
alone?
TODD
Yes, I promise.
JIMMY
For good?
TODD
Yeah, whatever. Just let me show you.
Carly started lightly banging her head on
the counter in frustration.
CARLY
God help me from this insanity.
TODD
So is that ok? Will you check this out?
JIMMY
Just show it for god sake.
Todd pulls out a piece of bread.
JIMMY (CONT'D)
Bread? Ok Todd I think I've seen bread
before.
TODD
Not like this.
JIMMY
What, special puke flavor? I think I
already am starting to taste it in my
mouth.
TODD
Let me show you what is so special about
this piece of bread.
Todd goes over to a canister that had a flammable sticker on
it and lays the piece of bread on top of it.
65.
TODD (CONT'D)
I was playing with my chemistry set last
night and came up with something
interesting.
CARLY
You blew up your house?
TODD
My garage. It was totally destroyed.
Luckily I have a RAID drive ran up to my
room or I would have lost everything.
CARLY
Shouldn't you be in the hospital or
something?
TODD
Normally yes but I was hiding behind my
desk.
JIMMY
You're garage blows up and your desk is
enough to hide you? This is why you got
kicked out of the project. Todd steps
over to the other two.
TODD
Just wait. You'll see. Let's go over to
the other side of the room.
They all walk to the opposite side of the room from where the
bread set on the canister. They stood behind a large solid
desk.
CARLY
Why? You gonna blow us up now?
Todd gives a chuckle before pulling out a pistol and quickly
firing at the canister.
JIMMY
Oh fuck!
66.
The canister exploded and the three instantly dropped down
behind the desk. The explosion destroyed much of the area of
the room that the canister WAS in. All the windows were
smashed out and the power to the room went down.
JIMMY (CONT'D)
(yelling)
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU! YOU SACK
OF SHIT ALMOST GOT US FUCKING KILLED! I
SHOULD FUCKING KILL YOU RIGHT HERE!
As Jimmy was cursing and yelling at Todd, Carly looked at the
mess and saw everything was blackened on the other side of
the room. She then saw an object floating in the area. She
walked over to the object and took a closer look at it. It
was the piece of bread - looking the same as it did before
the explosion and floating midair.
CARLY
Jimmy, shut the fuck up a minute.
JIMMY
He tried to kill us.
CARLY
Todd?
TODD
What?
CARLY
What happened to your desk?
TODD
(with a smile on his face)
It floated away somewhere.
CARLY
How is this possible?
TODD
You're going to need to look at all the
computer files. By the way, don't eat the
bread - it'll kill you.
67.
CARLY
It isn't even scorched and it's floating.
Jimmy came over to Carly and took a
closer look.
JIMMY
Interesting.
Suddenly Jimmy is shot in the head. He falls to the ground
dead.
CARLY
(yelling)
What the fuck?!
Carly turns and looks out the window to see the hitman. A
moment later she is shot in the head and killed as well. Todd
sees the hitman and made a dash behind the desk. He barely
missed a massive onslaught of bullets.
TODD
Fuck this shit.
Todd peaks from behind the desk and sees the hitman beginning
to approach and then sees the open door. He makes a mad dash
out the door and runs away.
CUT TO:
65 EXT - SCIENCE LAB - NIGHT 65
The hitman walks towards the lab. As he walks he changes out
the clip to his gun. Once the new clip was securely in the
gun he aims and tries to find the final target of this
shooting. He looks around a minute before putting his gun
away. He then goes over to Jimmy and searches the victim's
pockets. He finds and takes a small piece of paper.
CUT TO:
66 INT - COMPACT CAR - NIGHT 66
Todd is speeding down the road in a panic. His face poured
with worry. He pulled out his cell phone and dialed a number.
68.
TODD
It's me again. You said call if I ran
into problems or anyone was coming after
me. We have a serious problem.
CUT TO:
67 INT - INSTITUTE : CONFERENCE ROOM - MORNING 67
Cristy is sitting at the table waiting. Alyssa is escorted in
by Jeff. Alyssa sits down at the table staying relaxed as if
she knew everything and none of it mattered.
CRISTY
Do you have anything to tell me?
ALYSSA
Yeah, alot actually. What do you want me
to spout off first?
CRISTY
What do you think? If you were some great
psychic as you make people try and
believe then why didn't you tell me about
the runaway?
ALYSSA
Because you would have tried to stop
them.
CRISTY
And that would have been bad?
ALYSSA
Oh, more then you can possibly ever know
right now.
CRISTY
So instead of them getting help they
could be out there getting in more
trouble, maybe even killed.
ALYSSA
Illyanna is the only one I'm worried
about but I know she'll be fine.
69.
CRISTY
I bet you do. What about the other four?
ALYSSA
The twins will be ok. As for the other
two, do you actually think I give two
fucks about them?
CRISTY
So why all the games?
ALYSSA
God's sick joke. Alot people don't
believe in God because they ask why would
God let a baby get raped or killed?
I KNOW there is a God and I asked him
once why would he give me this talent and
NOT let me change things? You wanna know
what he said to me?
CRISTY
What?
ALYSSA
I do change things, all the time. Some
things however I can't stop from
happening.
CRISTY
So you want me to believe they needed to
run away. You think it was your job to
help them escape?
ALYSSA
One of them will be back before it's
over.
CRISTY
Which one?
70.
ALYSSA
That's your job to go figure it out.
Actually it's your job to go drag them
back here in one way or another - at
least one of them.
CRISTY
What?
(beat)
I don't get you. Why would you let them
escape only to tell me I need to go get
them?
ALYSSA
I guess it's all part of God's master
plan. As confusing and twisted as it is -
it's still some kind of plan.
CRISTY
So now you think this is some sort of
divine intervention?
ALYSSA
Do you think my psychic ability - as
limited as it is - lets me only see
future events really clearly and not
anything else? It's not like this ability
comes from some strange alien artifact
that only lets me have this one stupid
talent. I ain't wearing no supersuit.
CRISTY
So what is this plan? What are you
wanting to do?
ALYSSA
That note I gave you told you alot,
right? It made you understand just a
little of what I can do - right?
CRISTY
Yeah - that's why I made sure that no one
knows you knew what was going to happen.
71.
When you said ask again in a couple days
I didn't think something like this was
going to happen.
ALYSSA
It's far from being done.
CRISTY
So what now, I go find them and try and
bring them back? I don't even know...
ALYSSA
Orlando, Florida. Safe house 12. Use your
access to find all the info you need.
Flight 815 leaves at 4:16 from Gate 23.
Everything else you need to know you'll
get on the way.
Cristy stands up, preparing to leave.
CRISTY
You a really interesting case. When I get
back I want to talk more to you about
everything. I want to learn more about
what you saw with me and the others.
Alyssa stayed silent as Cristy walked to the door, opening it
about to leave.
ALYSSA
Take your gun with you.
Cristy walked out of the room.
ALYSSA (CONT'D)
Too bad we won't ever see each other
again.
Jeff opens the door and Alyssa stands up.
JEFF
Did you tell her?
ALYSSA
I told her what I needed to tell her and
nothing more.
72.
JEFF
You know that if we want things to go as
they are supposed to NO one can get in
the way - by any means necessary.
ALYSSA
Don't worry, she won't be a problem.
JEFF
I don't like the fact that Illyanna had
to go with them. I could have taken care
of that.
ALYSSA
I just spent how many months setting up
something that you guys fucked up to
begin with? You LET this happen and now I
was sent to fix it. Now let me the fuck
out of here. I need a vacation.
JEFF
What do I tell Tia?
ALYSSA
Nothing. Tell nothing to anyone. If
someone asks about me then make something
up but why would anyone ask anything
about me - ever?
Jeff hands Alyssa a small palm computer. Alyssa walks out of
the room.
CUT TO:
68 EXT - INSTITUTE : FRONT ENTRANCE - DAY 68
Alyssa exits the institute, placing her sunglasses on as she
walks out. A taxi was waiting for her. She got into the taxi
and it pulled away.
CUT TO:
73.
69 INT - HOTEL ROOM - DAY 69
Illyanna was standing on the balcony, overlooking the beach
and ocean. Nearby on the bed were the twins beginning to wake
up.
ROBBIN
What the fuck time is it?
ILLYANNA
It's late. Almost two.
KELLEY
Are you splurging for lunch also?
ILLYANNA
What would a nice hotel stay be without a
nice room service lunch. I HAD breakfast
but you two slept through that.
ROBBIN
I can't help that I like my sleep.
ILLYANNA
And your guys and partying too.
ROBBIN
Give me a break. This ain't rehab
anymore. I'm young and wanna have fun.
KELLEY
She's not too far wrong though. We need
to watch it.
ROBBIN
Why? We're free of that place. What's the
point of being free if we don't live it
up a little. I could use some aspirin
though.
KELLEY
I'm just saying we need to chill out for
awhile. We just got out yesterday. We
need to keep a low profile to make sure
we're safe.
74.
ROBBIN
Does it matter? We aren't going to stay
around here, right?
ILLYANNA
No. We have a few hours drive before we
get there. We are in Florida and that
means that anything you do here will
follow us to the safe house.
KELLEY
Can't you just fix that in the system?
ILLYANNA
I already did that once. When the police
report went out I made it lost.
ROBBIN
If we would have known you were a hacker
in there we could have had more fun.
ILLYANNA
And that is why no one knew I was a
hacker, except Jeff.
ROBBIN
Alright future girl - what now?
ILLYANNA
I'm just waiting for Jennie to come back.
KELLEY
And the other two? Why don't we ditch
them and go somewhere else?
ILLYANNA
No. We need to stick together for now.
KELLEY
Isn't that just going to get us into
trouble? They aren't the best people to
be around.
75.
ILLYANNA
We left rehab together and we'll get to
the safe house together.
KELLEY
Whatever. You're the one with the
computer skills so I'll do what you say
for now.
A knock is heard on the door. Illyanna walks over to the
door.
ILLYANNA
Who is it?
JENNIE
Dead Milkmen.
Robbin and Kelley look at each other confused. Illyanna opens
the door to let Jennie in.
JENNIE (CONT'D)
You guys ready?
ILLYANNA
I am.
Jennie looks at the other two with frustration.
JENNIE
Come on guys. We can't stay here forever.
Get ready quick.
KELLEY
Yeah yeah. We'll be ready in like an
hour.
Illyanna goes back over to the window and looks out some
more.
CUT TO:
76.
70 EXT - AIRPORT TERMINAL - DAY 70
Cristy steps out of the airport terminal and waves down a
taxi. The taxi pulls up and stops right next to her. She gets
inside and the taxi drives off.
CUT TO:
71 INT - SUV - DAY 71
Everyone was quietly inside the SUV as it drove down the road
through a neighborhood towards it's destination. A cell phone
began beeping. It was in the cupholder sitting.
JENNIE
Shit. I knew I was forgetting something.
KAITLYN
What is it?
JENNIE
I forgot to check my messages.
Jennie dialed her voice mail and called out.
VOICE MAIL
(voice over)
You have two new messages. First new
message.
TODD
(voice over)
I just think I found the motherload of
all inventions. You're gonna wanna kiss
my ass when you see what I found.
CUT TO:
72 EXT - SAFE HOUSE - DAY 72
Cristy stood in front of the safe house looking at it. She
handed some money to the taxi driver and the car sped away.
The door seemed to be cracked open a little. Cristy carefully
approached the house and pulled out her pistol.
77.
VOICE MAIL
(voice over)
Second new message.
TODD
(voice over)
It's me again. You said call if I ran
into problems or anyone was coming after
me. We have a serious problem.
Cristy stepped up to the door and saw that the door was still
open. She carefully stepped inside.
CUT TO:
73 INT - SUV - DAY 73
Jennie pulled the SUV down the road. They saw the safehouse
and Cristy beginning to enter.
JENNIE
FUCK!
Jennie began honking the horn and sped up towards the house.
The SUV abruptly stopped in front of the house and Jennie
raced out of the SUV and yelled to Cristy. The others raced
out of the SUV as well, confused as to what was happening.
JENNIE (CONT'D)
Cristy!
Cristy began to turn to look when the entire house exploded.
Everyone took cover from the explosion behind the SUV.
Cristy's body flew out of the house and hit the ground with a
large crack. Everyone began to stand back up. Jennie raced
over to Cristy and look at her. A moment later she began
coughing and trying to catch her breath. Jennie was relieved
to hear this.
JENNIE (CONT'D)
Cristy! Are you alright? Are you OK?
Cristy did not immediately reply.
JENNIE (CONT'D)
Can you hear me?
78.
CRISTY
(weakened)
Yeah. I can hear you. I'll be ok.
Steve looked at the remains of the house. He then looked at
Cristy. He looked back at the house and then back at Cristy.
STEVE
Who the fuck are you?
CRISTY
(catching her breath)
Cristy. Remember, we had a few meetings.
STEVE
You just blew up. You should be dead by
now.
Jennie's phone began ringing.
CRISTY
It wouldn't be the first time I should
have died and didn't. Cristy took the
phone from Jennie.
CRISTY (CONT'D)
Let me.
(answering the phone)
Yeah!
VOICE
I see you survived.
CRISTY
Who is this?
VOICE
An old friend that has something of
yours.
CRISTY
Tell me who you are.
79.
VOICE
You'll know soon enough. Go to warehouse
7 where they are keeping the spare parts
for the project. Jennie will know how to
get there and get inside. Take everyone
there with you. Jennie will drop you and
the other five off and she will leave and
go back to work. Do this before seven.
The phone hung up.
CRISTY
I really could use Alyssa right about
now.
JENNIE
Who was it?
CRISTY
The same person who just blew this up.
JENNIE
And probably killed Carly and Jimmy last
night.
CRISTY
What?
JENNIE
I just got a message from Todd telling
me. They were supposed to help us here.
CRISTY
We have other problems to add to this.
Whoever this person is they want
something and they just told me what we
need to do.
CUT TO:
74 INT - WAREHOUSE 7 - NIGHT 74
Cristy and the other five are standing around waiting.
80.
KAITLYN
So what, are we supposed to just stand
around waiting for whatever this is we
are waiting for.
Suddenly several gunmen appeared, aiming their weapons at the
group of six.
ILLYANNA
I think we just found out what this is
all about.
VOICE
(calling down from above)
Not entirely.
From behind the several gunmen appears Tran.
CRISTY
You.
TRAN
Long time since I last saw you.
CRISTY
I should have known you would have pulled
something like this.
STEVE
You know him and you didn't tell me?
After I told you about him you still
didn't say shit.
CRISTY
You're point?
(to Tran)
So you wanted something we have in
exchange for something we wanted?
TRAN
You definitely have what we want and we
have a small artifact that you will want.
CRISTY
What do you have?
81.
TRAN
We found the Hashurn.
CRISTY
You found it? What do you want from us?
ILLYANNA
(to Cristy)
He's lying. He doesn't have it.
CRISTY
What? How do you know?
ILLYANNA
Because that's what I have. That was what
was I took with me from the mansion when
the professor was killed.
CRISTY
What are you up to Tran? What's your
plan?
TRAN
You think this is my plan?
CRISTY
Who are you working for Tran?
TRAN
You don't have confidence that I could do
things on my own?
CRISTY
I know you. I know you would never have
been able to afford to get where you are
at alone. Who do you work for?
TRAN
Maybe the same people who are running a
few shows.
The hitman appeared next to Tran and whispered something into
his ear.
82.
ILLYANNA
That's him.
CRISTY
Who?
ILLYANNA
The one next to Tran in the suit. He's
the one I saw at the mansion when the
Professor was killed. I saw him leaving
from the woods outside. He shot someone
outside.
CRISTY
Kent was the one they found outside shot.
So HE was the one who killed Kent?
TRAN
(to the gunmen)
Kill them!
Suddenly gunfire begins to burst forth at the group standing
below. Steve was the first that was shot - getting pelted by
dozens of bullets all over his body. Kaitlyn was hit by a
couple bullets in the chest that made her fall to the floor.
The other four dashed and ducked behind various objects and
barriers in an attempt to avoid getting shot. Cristy quickly
pulled out her gun and readied herself.
ROBBIN
Holy fuck! What the fuck is happening?
CRISTY
Stay down and we'll find a way out of
here.
Tran and the hitman began to head outside. Cristy attempted
to target and shoot him, missing.
ILLYANNA
What about the hitman?
CRISTY
We'll have to deal with him later. We
need to worry about getting out of here.
83.
ROBBIN
We're kinda pinned in here. How the hell
are we supposed to get out of here?
Loud sirens came blaring in and outside gunfire started up.
The gunmen then were distracted away from their main first
targets.
ILLYANNA
Here's our chance. We need to take it and
get our asses out of here. Cristy looked
over a minute at the two that were
fallen.
CRISTY
You go with the twins. I have to make
sure those two are ok.
ILLYANNA
What if you don't make it out?
CRISTY
I will, don't worry. Stay with the twins
and find me after.
ILLYANNA
We can't go back you know. We have
something we have to do, all three of us.
Cristy looked down again at the two
bodies.
CRISTY
Then go. Save yourself. Make sure you
take care.
ILLYANNA
Remember to watch who you trust. Don't
trust Dr Jeph - ever!
Cristy has a strange look on her face a moment. Illyanna and
the twins wait for a break in the fire. The moment they get
it the three take off running towards the exit. Cristy sets
her eyes on Kaitlyn and Steve.
84.
When the outside gunfire took out a few more inside gunmen,
she rushed over to check out the two. She checked Steve's
pulse, then Kaitlyn's. Suddenly police barged in and aimed
their guns on Cristy and the remaining gunmen.
POLICE OFFICER
Freeze. Drop your weapon. Cristy dropped
her gun and held up her hands.
CRISTY
DON'T SHOOT! I'm FBI! I NEED A MEDIC.
THIS GIRL IS STILL ALIVE!
The police stopped aiming at Cristy and raced to try and help
Kaitlyn stay alive.
POLICE OFFICER
What about the male?
CRISTY
He's already dead.
POLICE OFFICER
(yelling)
GET ME A MEDEVAC! STAT!
Cristy pulls out her cell phone and begins dialing out.
CRISTY
Steve's been killed but I have Kaitlyn
still alive - barely. If she comes
through I'll need you to prep the room.
Kaitlyn pushes to barely open her eyes, just enough to see a
little around her. She sees Cristy on the phone nearby for
just a moment before closing her eyes again.
FADE TO BLACK.
FADE IN:
75 INT - HOSPITAL ROOM - DAY 75
Kaitlyn lays in bed. The machines beep, showing that she has
a steady heart rate. She slowly awakens from her deep state
of unconscious. At first she looks around just slightly.
85.
She sees a candystriper nearby, fiddling with some supplies
nearby.
KAITLYN
Where am I?
CANDYSTRIPER
You're at Cooper Lake Memorial.
KAITLYN
Cooper Lake? Then that means I'm back in
Atlanta.
CANDYSTRIPER
I'll go get the nurse for you.
The Candystriper leaves the room and Kaitlyn continues to lay
there in bed.
CUT TO:
76 INT - HOSPITAL HALLWAY - DAY 76
Cristy walks down the hallway and enters Kaitlyn's room.
CRISTY
I see you are finally awake again.
KAITLYN
You? What are you doing here? I expected
to see someone like Dr Jeph, but not you.
CRISTY
I think you know why I'm here.
KAITLYN
What, are you here to take me back?
CRISTY
You being in rehab is not why I was sent
to talk to you.
KAITLYN
Then why?
86.
CRISTY
You escaped with the others. Why did you
want to escape? What did you think you
were going to find?
KAITLYN
A way out. We were tired of being
trapped.
CRISTY
I think it was more then that.
KAITLYN
Really? What was it then?
CRISTY
I think you were trying to escape from
something else. Maybe some danger you
felt coming after you.
KAITLYN
That's a little far fetched.
CRISTY
Is it? Back before you got here you were
one of the people working for Tran,
weren't you?
KAITLYN
How did you know that?
CRISTY
All three of you. You, Alison, and Steve
all worked for Tran helping his business.
After some time you decided that you
didn't want to deal anymore. That is why
you tried to get out from under him,
correct?
Kaitlyn's face turned to sadness as Cristy talked.
KAITLYN
Yeah, it's true. I did alot of horrible
things then. That was before. I'm not
like that anymore.
87.
CRISTY
Are you sure?
KAITLYN
I haven't done anything in a long time.
Cristy pulls up a chair and sits down on it next to Kaitlyn.
CRISTY
That's right, you are just an innocent
teenager. I guess that's what Steve would
have said if he were still alive.
KAITLYN
So he's dead now?
CRISTY
You were there when he was shot. You were
there for his whole life.
KAITLYN
Not his birth.
CRISTY
But when he started working for Tran.
KAITLYN
Yeah, so?
CRISTY
I figured out why you were so desperate
to hide from Tran.
KAITLYN
Why's that?
CRISTY
Tran isn't one to be very interested in
people who are not like him. Besides
being power hungry he tends to be a bit
sexist and racist and generally biased.
He won't kill someone for being a woman
but he has been known to kill gay people.
That's why Steve was trying to get away.
88.
KAITLYN
Steve was gay? News to me.
CRISTY
I think you were well aware of this. I
has someone who helped me figure out some
things about you. I was told a few
secrets.
KAITLYN
Who, that nut-job Alyssa?
CRISTY
No, not Alyssa. She just sent me to
someone else. The person who told me
everything I needed to charge you with
attempted murder.
KAITLYN
What?!
Alison suddenly walked into the room.
ALISON
Hello sis?
CUT TO:
77 INT - CONFERENCE ROOM : ALYSSA - DAY 77
ALYSSA
Tell me this first, is it going to
incriminate me in Alison's murder and did
you tell anyone about the note yet?
CRISTY
No.
ALYSSA
No on which part?
CRISTY
On both parts.
89.
ALYSSA
I know that. I just wanted you to admit
it. I wanna make sure you answer me
without trying to manipulate me how most
shrinks do to teen patients. I am NOT
going to deal with condescending
attitudes towards me. Now you can sit
down and relax and I will explain a few
things to you.
Cristy sat down in the chair and sat back to be comfortable.
CRISTY
OK - explain.
ALYSSA
I was the one who wrote the note. It was
the one way I was able to not only change
something that MIGHT have happened but it
was the ONE way I KNEW you would be
convinced when you got here.
CRISTY
If you knew then why didn't you stop
them?
ALYSSA
If I would have stopped Steve and Kaitlyn
from attempting to kill Alison then Tran
would have just made another attempt some
other way. People needed to believe she
was dead. Besides you would not have
shown up and I NEEDED you to show up.
Don't you know by now that you are one of
the most important parts of everything
going on?
CRISTY
What do you mean?
ALYSSA
I mean that anything dealing with Kent or
Kaitlyn and Steve is nothing compared to
what is to come from your own mission.
90.
CRISTY
I'm not on a mission.
ALYSSA
Aren't you? You are here because you're a
criminal psychologist working for the
FBI. You were brought back to where you
use to be at. At every turn you deal with
your past and future without even
realizing it. Back there in L.A. you got
that crystal. You are completely unaware
of it's true potential.
CRISTY
It's a crystal, that's all.
ALYSSA
Then why did you hide it from the others?
CRISTY
What is it? What's it used for that makes
everyone want it so much?
ALYSSA
I can't explain what it is but I CAN let
you see a glimpse of what it is part of.
Alyssa stands from her seat and walks
over next to Cristy.
CRISTY
What are you doing?
ALYSSA
You won't understand everything, but
you'll feel something more. Alyssa
stretches her hands out and touches
Cristy's head. Cristy suddenly sees a
montage of brief and extremely fast
flashes.
When Alyssa abruptly took off her hands, Cristy looked as if
she just had the wind knocked out of her.
91.
CRISTY
Who the hell are you?
ALYSSA
Maybe I'm just making lucky guesses or
maybe I was told some stuff by someone.
Then again maybe I'm just someone who
knows everything that happened.
CUT TO:
78 INT - OFFICE - DAY 78
Jennie walked into an office where Andrea and Jeff sat.
JENNIE
We have a problem bigger then we
realized.
ANDREA
We know. Something is stirring and it
needs to be stopped.
JEFF
I'm working on it.
CUT TO:
79 EXT - BEACH - NIGHT 79
80 TITLE CARD : SEVEN MONTHS LATER 80
Alyssa was sitting on the beach looking out over the ocean.
The breeze was blowing by her as the full moon shone down.
CUT TO:
81 INT - RESTAURANT - NIGHT 81
David pushes Robbin's feet off the seat and scoots in,
sitting next to her.
ROBBIN
Hey!
92.
DAVID
I was in there back in '99
ROBBIN
Yeah, yeah - and I made out with Brad
Pitt last year. Big deal.
KELLEY
Robbin, shut the hell up! Excuse my
obnoxious twin.
DAVID
It's ok.
KELLEY
'99?
DAVID
Yeah, why?
KELLEY
One of our staff members talked about
that to us a few times.
DAVID
Who was it?
KELLEY
Her name's Cristy.
DAVID
Cristy? She works there now? That's kinda
funny.
KELLEY
Funny? Why?
DAVID
I knew here. She was a patient when I
was.
KELLEY
So then you were there on that weird
night?
93.
DAVID
She told you about that.
KELLEY
She insists that it was real, that all of
it really happened.
ROBBIN
Did it happen?
DAVID
Yeah it happened. It was real. Several of
us were there but four of us were really
bound together. Like some universal
binding of some kind.
ILLYANNA
Can you tell me what happened? David
pulls out a small piece of paper from his
pocket and hands it to Illyanna.
DAVID
I don't have time to go into it. Maybe
we'll run into each other again and I'll
explain then.
CUT TO:
82 EXT - PROJECT WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 82
The building is blaring sirens and all of a sudden a massive
burst of energy comes out along with a massive boom and the
building crumbles into nothing.
CUT TO:
83 EXT - EXCAVATION SITE - NIGHT 83
Randalf comes outside with a bewildered look on his face when
he felt some rumbling. He quickly hits a switch outside of
his trailer that shuts off all the power at the site.
94.
A huge wall of light and energy comes at them and knocks
everyone and all the lighter objects over. Syd vanishes when
the energy wall hits her.
CUT TO:
84 INT / EXT - DINER - NIGHT 84
David and the others are still sitting together when they
feel the rumbling.
David and the other three leap up and dash outside. Illyanna
stands next to him as the twins stand just outside in front
of the door. They all stare into the distance
ILLYANNA
What is it?
DAVID
My project.
The wall of energy and light comes toward them. They all are
hit and vanish as the wall passes through them. The diner's
power shuts off completely and it is nearly pitch black.
CUT TO:
85 EXT - BEACH - NIGHT 85
Alyssa still sat on the beach. From behind her came the
hitman. He pulled out a gun and aimed it at Alyssa.
ALYSSA
I know who you are and why you came. The
hitman stopped and lowered his pistol.
ALYSSA (CONT'D)
You're gonna wait before you shoot me. I
wanted to see something special before I
leave this world.
The hitman puts his gun back into his jacket holster.
95.
ALYSSA (CONT'D)
Now isn't that more like it? I know you
don't really care for opening up and
talking much, but you do listen. Alyssa
stood up and faced the hitman. In her
hands was a
bottle of wine that was about half full. The hitman looked at
the bottle, then looked at her.
ALYSSA (CONT'D)
First time I ever been drunk in my life.
Feels pretty fuckin damn great.
(beat)
Sorry. Drinking alcohol helps make trips
go better - so they tell me.
(beat)
Yeah, I'm going on a trip soon.
The hitman reaches back into his jacket when in the distance
a huge booming sound was heard. The hitman turned to look
behind him. A glow began to approach them from the horizon.
ALYSSA (CONT'D)
And here's my ride.
The large pulse wave came at them quickly.
ALYSSA (CONT'D)
Goodbye!
The hitman pulled out his gun as he turned back around. As
the pulse wave hit them the hitman began firing at Alyssa. A
moment later the pulse wave was gone as was Alyssa. The
hitman stood alone on the beach.
FADE OUT.
FADE IN:
86 EXT - WOODED AREA - DAY 86
Alyssa was riding a horse. She was wearing a strange type of
wardrobe - almost futuristic in a way. She was riding next to
another person.
96.
MAN
Your shoulder still hurts? Alyssa rubs
her should a little.
ALYSSA
A little. The wounds are healing up
pretty nicely thanks to you.
MAN
I heal people and teach people. THAT is
what I do. Apparently you teach as well.
ALYSSA
So now you see why it's so important?
MAN
I suppose so. And the most important
thing is to make these people coming to
me secure and safe?
ALYSSA
Correct. They have a mission they need to
accomplish and you need to help them.
(beat)
Do you understand Enoch?
ENOCH
I understand. Welcome them to Atlantis. They were now
standing over a valley with a vast city that
spread over miles of the valley. The buildings were all stone
and marble with a large centerpiece.
FADE OUT.
THE END Of part two
