Quill Nocturnal Cravings Quill

by Shari Mathias

A polite greeting, a question answered sends my mind
Back to another place, a forbidden embrace
The closeness of you still fresh in my quickened heart

A kiss we did partake, and more
In this parallel existence
Where marital matters matter not
And you and I express anything and everything
Within my own confines.
Always assumptions
Often different locations
But the same players
I close my eyes, desiring to be back
But no matter how willing
It is not of my own will that I return
So I must be content with the surprise escapes –
The chance encounters in the night.

A surreptitious smile as you walk away
Totally unaware that in another world
We meet for more than casual conversation
