Quill Columbine Quill

by Shari Mathias

Symbiotic pastels in wild grasses
Amongst Colorado's majesty
A blossom pressed against a star
In two-toned harmony
A portrait of peace
Marred by the name it shares
With unspeakable tragedy
It sings each spring with soft colors
But this dove has been soiled for eternity
