How
long have we been around?
Who
knows? A long time. You can see the front of the garden if you watch the movie
Slaves of New York.Near the end, when Bernadette Peters is looking
for an apartment of
her own, she comes out the door of 240 East 2nd Street and the camera zooms
out on almost
the whole block. You can see the fence with the gate open & people hanging
out. That movie
was released in 1989. So the garden is at least 12 years old, and probably
much older.
