| I am not a religious person, but I do consider myself to be a spiritual person. You may ask what's the difference? A religious person goes to church every Sunday, can quote passages from the Bible, and in some cases, believes that those who do not share their religion will go to Hell. A spiritual person can also do these things if they choose, but it is not necessary. This is because a spritual person can praise the power or being they believe is responsible for this world at any time and at any place. They do not need a special buiding to worship in. They do not make rules for other people, and they do not push their beliefs onto others. I believe only what I feel in my heart, and I have yet to find a religious sect that shares those exact beliefs. Does this make me a bad person? Only if you think being true to yourself is bad. I was raised as a Catholic. I even went to Catholic school for a number of years, but I do not agree 100% with what the Catholic church stands for. I am not saying that all or any religions are bad, I just don't believe in being a part of something just for the sake of saying that you are. There are many people out there who go to church every Sunday and consider themselves great examples of their religion, but some of these people have dark hearts. Is a person with a dark heart who goes to church every Sunday better than a person with a good heart who chooses to worship differently? For the sake of this world, I hope not. The next time you go to church, ask yourself why you are there. If it's just because you think it will get you into heaven, I highly suggest re-evaluating your beliefs. There are many people in this world practicing many different religions, and I believe that as long as they are good people who try to live moral lives they will all go to heaven. |
