Welcome to PEACH/NY a Homeschool Support Group in NYC!
| ||
And as a Home School Support Group our MAIN goal is to inform, encourage, and provide fellowship for home educating parents and their families AND to educate those who have the curiosity of learning about Homeschooling.
Something else that we want everyone to know is that we are a very laid back group and very homey!
PEACH also specializes in Homeschool families that come from the Public School system and are now Homeschooling and we love nothing better than to be of assistance to those who are leaving the "system".
Becoming a member of PEACH is as simple as saying you want to belong to the group! PEACH/NY doesn't charge a fee, we ask members to bring supplies as we need them.
Announcement: THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS, PEACH will be able to continue to use Dana for our meetings!! Dana Discovery Center is located in Central Park on 110th Street near Lenox Ave.
And meetings will now be on
Wednesday's starting November with a new time as well, from 1:00 - 3:30pm!

And as always, please feel welcome to bring something for our refreshment time! Plus don't forget, dads and children are welcome, so see you all at our next meeting!
Remember to visit this site often to see new info and ideas!
And something I can't stress enough - Please remember that just like with the many different museums in NYC alone, no two museums will offer the same exhibits and the same goes for Homeschool Support Groups. No two are the same or offer the same activities, but that's what makes it fun! And there is nothing wrong with belonging to as many of them as you want!
Please remember that ALL meetings are held at Dana Discovery Center unless otherwise noted...
September 17th (Thursday) - Theme: Welcome/Return Potluck
Time: 2:00pm - 4:00pm We had a nice time sharing some yummy food and spoke about future meetings and trips.
NEW Time: 1:00 - 3:30pm We would like to invite all families to get together and chose a Hispanic Country and either bring a story about their culture or foods or even about their history. It can also be a drawing of their flag or photos of their people and celebrations. Or maybe some may wish to dress in their chosen country's folkloric attire or even their jewelry. Use your imaginations and have fun with it! You may even decide to bring in a dish from said country!October 15th CHANGED to Wednesday, October 28th - Meeting ~ Theme: Hispanic Heritage Celebration
November 18th (Wednesday) - Meeting ~ Theme: Nature Discovery
Time: 1:00 - 3:30pm Found a new insect or new animal that has really intrigued you? Come and present your "new" discovery to the group! Please do not bring in actual animals, lol! Take photos, draw pictures or bring in a book about it. And then share your find with us!
For example: You have just "discovered" for the first time all about Water Bears. (If you don't know what this is, look it up, it'll knock your socks off!)
Your "assignment" then is to become a Teaching Professor so that we too can learn all about your discovery! And as always, have fun with this, it's not meant to be formal!
December 9th (Wednesday) - Meeting ~ Theme: Christmas Celebration
Time: 1:00 - 3:30pm Most of you know about our annual Cookie/Ornament Exchange and also about bringing in your favorite holiday dish and as always, share why the dish is special to you and your family! We will have a simple craft for all to make and take home!

And something new that PEACH is going to include on our site is ads for "mom & pop" type businesses!
I have included my brother Joe who just launched his business days ago and is doing great thank God!
And a new "Ad" from one of our Homeschool dads, Freddy the Clown
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So if you are a baker and make cakes, etc. for sale, we'll place an ad here for you for FREE!
We're doing this to give homeschoolers interested a "spring-board" of sorts!
But it doesn't have to stop at baking, it can be making jewelry and the list goes on!
And this includes grownups as well as kids, so sign up!
If you would like to be included in the ads,
send me an email with the name of your business, and what your product/service is.
Plus if you have a website I can place a link for you here as well!
So, if you have a car and want to "pamper" it
but also look out for what's best for our environment, click on the link below!
Hey, cars can use some "spa time" too, lol!
Mach5 Waterless Auto Detailing
who also uses his clowning talents as a ministry for God!
Visit the link for more info on booking a clown for your next event!
And pass the info on!!
And the link below is a very helpful site that I used for each year that I Homeschooled my boys. Worldbook offers a Typical Course of Study for ALL grades. I used it as guide to let me know what subject matter was needed to be covered for each year. This is especially helpful for Homeschoolers who prefer the Eclectic Method of learning, compared to getting a full-blown pre-set curriculum. And even with a full-blown curriculum, you can use this guide to help you check that all the basics needed are covered!
