Rating: PG-13 Warning: AU, OOC, mild fluff Disclaimer: Koko wa Greenwood doesn't belong to me, no matter how much of the merchandise I buy. I have no idea what sort of hotel Shun's family runs, or what his family (other than his little brother) look like so I'm making it up as I go along!!! JUST A CHRISTMAS TALE. // Scooping up their bags, they pushed their way through the people standing and made their way to the train doors. The train drew to a halt and they got off amongst a mass of people. Once the people had dispersed somewhat, they looked about and Shun smiled as he spotted his younger brother waving at him from the stairs. "Come on Suka-chan, time to meet my family." // Part Four. In no time, they had left the station and were on their way to Shun's home. Hasukawa had to smile as he watched Shun and his little brother talk animatedly; they were a lot a like, and he could already see what the little boy would grow up to be just by watching Shun. They stopped outside a traditional Japanese compound, and Hasukawa assumed that this was the hotel. It certainly looked pleasant from the outside, and as they walked closer, he could hear laughter and soft music coming from behind the screens at the front door. "TADIMA!" Shun yelled, and was immediately glomped onto by a short woman with long pink hair and an equally pink kimono; he could see where Shun and his brother got their looks from. "Okaasan," Shun managed to wriggle free from her grasp, and pulled him forward by his hand, "This is Suka-chan." "N..Nice to meet you," he managed to stutter and bowed politely. Shun's mother smiled at him, returning the bow, before warmly embracing him, "It's lovely to meet you Hasukawa - Shun has spoken of you a lot, you certainly are handsome." "Okaasan!" Shun wailed, embarrassed that his mother would say such things to his guest. Ignoring her son's outburst, she steered Hasukawa into the building, and once he had exchanged his shoes for slippers, she showed him where the kitchen and the washrooms were. "I'm afraid we're fully booked at the moment - but you don't mind sharing a room with Shun do you?" she looked at him, "If you do, we'll put Shun in with his brother and you can have the room to yourself." "No, no, it's not a problem - I mean, after all we are room-mates at school." Hasukawa fought to keep the blush off his face. "Wonderful," she beamed at him, and then turned to Shun, " Once you've put the bags down, you'll need to get the spare futon out of the supply closet - I didn't want to set it up in case you didn't need it." "Hai," Shun answered and taking Hasukawa's bag, bounced off to their room. He was glad that Suka-chan hadn't minded staying with him. Although the other boy didn't like him in quite the same way he did, it would be nice to spend time with just him, away from the pranks and betting pools of the Sempai's. Hasukawa was led into the dining room, where the evening meal was being served. Handed a plate, he sat down in the corner and waited for Shun to reappear. He found that the atmosphere was pleasant, and Shun's energetic mother spoke to all the guests personally. It made him slightly sad in a way, he had been without parents for so long, he had forgotten how it felt to be mothered. Sure his brother looked after him, but between his job and his wife, there was little time left to spend with the younger brother. With a sigh, he murmured his thanks for the food, and got stuck in. * * * Scanning the room from the door, Shun looked for his friend. Spotting him in the corner, he sneaked over. About to surprise him, he stopped short and noticed the sad smile on his friends face, and the way Suka's eyes followed his mother as she went about the room. He felt a little bit guilty, and sat down without being silly, he had forgotten that Suka didn't really have a happy family at the minute, and seeing the way his mother doted on everyone must have been mildly upsetting. "Daijoubu Suka-chan?" he smiled at his friend. "Ah, I was just thinking how lucky you are," Suka smiled back, "Your Kaasan is a really nice person." "Arigato," Shun beamed at him, and promptly stole some of his food. "Shun!" Suka rolled his eyes, "I thought I got away from people who stole my food!" he started to laugh and Shun joined in; both happily eating Suka's meal. Once they had finished, they sat in comfortable silence, before heading down to the baths. Due to the lateness, they were empty and they eagerly divested their clothes and sank into the hot water. As they bathed, Suka found himself watching Shun, finding his small gestures cute, and his movements graceful. Glad that once more he had a cover for his blush, this time the heat, he took a deep breath and really thought about who he liked - it wasn't too much of a surprise to find that he really did want Shun more than anyone, and he resolved to start the holiday by telling the other boy - after all, it would be unfair of him to keep something that important a secret. Wrapping themselves in complementary robes, Shun led him down to his room. Suka was surprised to find that it wasn't pink like he expected, but soft powder blue and tastefully decorated. The spare futon lay unrolled on the floor, and he plopped down on it before Shun could protest. * * * In the mirror, Shun could see Suka-chan watching him as he brushed his hair, and he felt uncharacteristically shy. He would have to tell the other boy how he felt about him soon, it would be unfair of him not to, especially as they were roommates. He resolved to do it soon, that way if Suka-chan hated him, he would be able to call the dorm lady and arrange to have his room switched with someone else. Finally finished with his hair, he clambered onto the bed, and looked across at his friend. "Suka-chan I need to tell you something" "Shun I need to say something" They both spoke at the same time and laughed. "After you" "After you" "No," Shun raised a hand, "you go first." "Okay," Suka sat up and looked at him, "First I just want to say thank you for inviting me here, I really didn't want to go back home yet. You see the thing is," he took a deep breath, "I'm not in love with Sumire-chan anymore, and I wanted to stay away to make sure that the feeling is completely gone; I had to be sure that it was, because you see...I've fallen in love with someone else." Shun lowered his head to look at the sheet below him, Suka's words ringing in his ears as his heart dropped, dumbly he nodded his head and waited for the red-head to continue, as he tried really hard not to cry. He startled as he felt fingertips under his chin, and he raised his head to see Suka looking at him, more serious than he had ever seen him before. "If I'm out of bounds with this," Suka spoke firmly, "Please don't let this ruin our friendship." "Nani?" Shun questioned, and then suddenly understood as Suka's lips hovered just above his own. They pressed lightly and were drawn away. He didn't know when his eyes had closed, but they had, so opening them he smiled down at his friend, the tears that had been welling in his eyes slipping free. Suka drew back like he had been burned and started stuttering apologies, "Oh Shun, I...I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you cry, I'll leave, I...I'll go back to the halls, oh God I'm sorry." "Suka-chan," Shun climbed down from the bed to sit on the futon next to the distraught boy, leaning over he whispered in his ear, "Suka-chan, dai suke da." Suka's eyes widened almost comically, and he turned to face his friend, "Hontou?" "Ah, hontou ni," Shun smiled shyly at him before leaning forward and kissing him again, "Suke desu."
