Allen answered cheerfully "Thank you! Every time I try to tie my hair up, the pendant gets caught and I have to spend ages untangling it." Hitomi made a face and handed Allen the pendant. Seconds later an intense light surrounded him and he felt his body rise into the air. "Allen!" He heard Van cry and his heart lurched, his hidden feelings for the young king were painful at times. The light obscured his vision and then he was standing on solid ground again. "Where...where am I?" He looked about him, the surroundings were totally unfamiliar he reached for his sword but his hand connected with cloth, he had taken it off to go running with Hitomi. Looking up into the night sky he paled, there was only one small silver orb hanging there - he was on the Mystic Moon. From his right hand dangled Hitomi's pendant and looking at it he scowled, " this must be how I was bought here - but how do I get back?" (Present Time) Allen returned to the small flat he called home, tired and irritable. With his skill at sword fighting and knowledge of machinery he had been taken on in a small ceremonial Army, it left him drained and exhausted after a long twelve-hour day. "No wonder Hitomi wanted to stay on Gaia," he grumbled to himself as he pulled a microwave meal from the fridge. It had taken him some time to get used to Hitomi's world and he still couldn't help watching in amazement as the machine cooked his food for him. Absent mind idly he ate his food and padded into the small bedroom. Flopping down on the bed he picked up the pendant and counted the movements as it ticked off each second. Unbidden an image of a young man, black hair, purple eyes and soft white wings filled his consciousness. A smile played across his face as he thought of the young king - it was the only time he felt truly happy, and even then it didnt last long especially when he thought about having left Gaia and Van behind. He had known or at least suspected for a long time that his feelings toward Van were more than friendship, but the courtly knight so deeply ingrained in him refused to allow these feelings to surface in anyone else's presence. He was almost certain that Van still cared for Hitomi even though she was engaged to Folken. Van did not need to know, it would only make matters unmanageable between them and Allen admitted to himself that he would rather be just friends than run the risk of rejection and being sent away in disgrace. Carefully he stopped the pendant and looked at it closely. Every night for two months he had tried to activate the pendant and send himself home but it refused to work. Like a flash a half forgotten memory moved to the forefront of his mind / The wishes will only be granted if you are true to your heart/ "True...to...my heart." He murmured slowly, an idea forming, "Yes! I must be true to my heart, no more hiding being a coward - I have to tell him, I have to tell Van!" Closing his eyes he focused all his being into his wish. Suddenly he was surrounded by warmth and then cool air. Opening his eyes he glanced at his surroundings, rich loam and wood scent filled his nostrils. Glancing up into sky he fell to his knees and wept with joy. High above him hung two moons - he was home again. |
