  > GLAWNG THAT
              - is a percussion one utilizing a stretched hide leather
              - "glawng" means drum
              - used in piphat ensembles since early times
              - the added drum is called a male drum which gives relatively high tone
                 while the other gives relatively low tone which is the female drum

TA PHON
              - rhythm instruments used in piphat ensemble
              - placed on a stand and played on both heads with the palms of the hand
                 and the fingers
              - there is a similar instrument in India but played held on lap

THONE-RAM MA NA
              - bowl-shaped instrument
              - played by one hand, the other controlling the tone by opening or closing
                 the open endof the vase like-body
              - head used various skin
              - known as the throne mahori
              - played in combination with ram ma na
              - ram ma na is a shallow drum with one head which is about the same size
                 and very much like a tambourine

GLAWNG KHAEK
             - is a long cylindrical drum made of hardwood
              - used in pars and are of different pitches
              - higher toned drum as the "male" and the lower toned as the "female"
              - played with the palms and fingers of the hand, both drumheads are used

KHLUI AND KHLUI LIP
              - similar to the Japanese flute shaku hachi, Indian flute mulali
              - played in vertical position
              - three sized evolved in order to commonsurate the sound of an ensemble
              - smallest is the khlui lip, khlui phiang aw in the middle, and the largest
                 among them is the khlui i

PI
              - true Thai instrument since ancient time
              - it is usually made og hardwoods, occasionally with marble
              - has four small reeds, round pieces of palmyra plam leaves placed in two
                 double layers and tied to a small tube made of brass, silver or metal
              - has a size and pitch half-way between the pi nai and the pi nawk
