| Chapter 14 |
| (Back at the Dorough Residence, Paulas View) I hung up the phone & went upstairs to check on the young woman who was my granddaughters mother. I turned on the light & walked over to the bed. She stirred & opened her eyes. Are you all right, I asked. Yes, where am I & who are you, she asked. My name is Paula. You are in my home. Now I want to know what your name is? Christie. I understand that you are the mother of my granddaughter Kara is that correct? Yes, How is she? What does she look like? She is OK, shes a happy fun loving kid who loves her father very much & hopes to have a mother someday. As far as looks go heres a picture of her & my son. I handed her a picture that was on the nightstand next to the bed. She looked at the picture. I heard her suck in her breath as she got a good look at my son. This is the person who has been taking care of my daughter, she said in disbelief. Yes, are you hungry? I asked. Yes. All right, Ill be right back. As I walked downstairs I thought about how much I liked her. She was so sweet & obviously cares about her daughter. Soon a small idea popped into my mind. One can only hope, I thought. |
