Melanie
Trondson's Music
Melanie
Watson has been a singer/songwriter for 28 years. At the
age of 15, Melanie bought her first 12 string and taught herself to play.
She began writing songs shortly thereafter and has 105 songs to her credit.
Mel, (as she likes to be called), is a native of Colorado and holds
a passion in her heart for the mountains, canyons and mesas of the west,
including the wildlife that inhabit it. Thus, her music seems to
generate around that love. Mel received a Presidential Achievement
Scholarship and studied Music Education at the University of Southern Colorado
where her major instrument was the clarinet, though the instrument that
really stole her heart was the 12 string guitar.
Mel's song writing
style is a borderline of folk/western and spiritual but also writes love
ballads and some country.
Mel has performed
at various functions which include benefits for the W.O.L.F. Sanctuary,
the Pitkin County Assisted Living Center, Pikes Peak Hospice, Blessings
for the Animals in Colorado Springs, the Senior Center for the Developmentally
Disabled in Montrose, Co., and various nursing homes and care centers around
the western slope of Colorado.
Mel's first successful
recording came with her song, "Into My Life" which was leased by a record
company in Sweden. She then went on to release four more of her songs
which received airplay in Europe.

Windows
and Wood" - Her cd, "Windows
and Wood" is her first solo cd. This cd consists of songs that she
wrote about the American West. It is a compilation which pays tribute
and gives heart to the wolf, the eagle, wild horses and also the Native
American Indian. Mel has also included love songs that center around
places in the west that touch her heart such as Santa Fe, Alaska and of
course, Colorado.
The title track,
"Windows and Wood" describes Mel's heavenly home. A place where she
has always dreamed of living. Built out of pine with windows that
tower to the heavens, nestled in aspen trees and resting in a valley at
the base of the Rocky Mountains near Westcliffe, Co.
Mel's dream is to
paint pictures with her music, so that her listeners will feel as if they
were there in her heart as she wrote from those visions.

Lazy
Little Stream - From the
inner liner of this cd: "John Denver's music has inspired the hearts of
many all over the world. I was first inspired at the age of 8.
When I was in my teens, I would drive up to the mountains of Colorado,
making my way to San Isabel Lake, sit by the stream and start playing and
singing. If I wasn't singing my own songs, I would be singing John
Denver's. The sound of the stream was always an excellent background
as it brought fullness, joy and peace to the music. A few years ago,
I discovered that his first song was called "Lazy Little Stream".
A vision came to me to use the sound of the stream and arrange his songs
as I heard them in my heart. After years of dreaming about purchasing
my own home recording equipment, the dream became a reality. I do
not know all there is to know about recording, but am quickly learning!
What better way to learn, than to use my favorite John Denver songs and
arrange them in my own way, with a keyboard. With a new keyboard,
I was able to add various instruments, use the stream effect and also record
my own guitar playing as well. I do not know how to read music for
the keyboard so I played the songs by ear in the key that felt most comfortable
to me. This cd project took about 3 months to complete and it has
been a wonderful experience. So, pick up a good book, light a candle,
and as you listen to the music, I pray you will find peace, joy and a blessed
comfort in your heart." |

Mel's Bells - This cd is a collection of Christmas songs which I have arranged. I do not sing in the songs, just decided to use my keyboards and arrange the songs using the instruments that sounded right to me. |
