eritrean community of philadelphia
children's art workshop series

two workshops conducted by yegizaw michael were held at the community center on february 20 and 27, 2000 attended by about 20 children ages 8-14.  the theme for the workshop was for the children to express their feelings about the war between eritrea and ethiopia. the workshop was very productive with one mural canvas, over 50 pastel drawings and acrylic paintings being completed.  27 pieces have been matted and framed and  efforts are underway to display the pieces at local children galleries and other events. the mural will be part of a worldwide multicultural mural planned in an art gallery in vienna, austria. our goal is to use the art work to raise funds for war displaced eritrean children.
