This
is to give you a quick update on the fundraising drive being conducted by the
Eritrean Youth Club of Philadelphia, EYCP
As
some of you may know, EYCP's fundraiser will
help finance the Eritrean Development Foundation Philly Chapter's shipment of
over 2000 blankets, food and medicines to Eritrea.
Thanks
to a lot of hard work at last weekend's Festival ERITREA in DC by many of the
EYCP artists and volunteers, the 1000 postcards of "mother and child"
by Bana Gebrehiwot and "peace dove" by Sara Ghirmatzion are almost
sold out - once completed, this will net $786.
In
addition, the documentary video "eritrea - it's where we're from" is
selling well... once the 100 copies that were made are sold, video sales will
net $591.
Finally,
all of the original framed art work is also available for sale to parents or
supporters of children's art and EYCP's worthwhile cause: Eritrea's
war-displaced children - so far, we've been successful in identifying buyers
for 5 of the 27 paintings ($600 raised out of a goal of $3100):
Mother
& Child/Bana Gebrehiwot $150
Peace
Dove/Sara Ghirmatzion $150
Plane
bombing/Samuel Seyoum $100
Battle
scene/Samson Russom $100
Paradise/Selamawit
Tewelde $100
By
the time we're done with postcards, videos and sale of original art work ($786
+ $591 + $3100), EYCP will have raised a total of $4477 to support
war-displaced children in Eritrea.
