Alyssa began acting when a baby-sitter took her to an audition for Annie. She wound up getting an orphan part and her and her mother went on the 18 month tour. Alyssa was seven. Alyssa cought critics' eyes and got Broadway musicals, and commercial offers. In 1984 she was offered the role of Samantha Micelli on Who's the Boss? Alyssa was on Who's The Boss? for eight years. A call from Aaron Spelling brought her to Charmed. The former Pheobe Halliwell, Lori Rom backed out after shooting the first episode saying it wasn't her type of show.
