  • Peace 1st, a grassroots unified peace effort in the Triangle of North Carolina, focuses on a non-violent response to the events of terrorism. Peace1st works actively in four areas: (1) education for understanding and non-violence, (2) action for peace and social witness, (3) alternative responses to violence, and (4) networking for peace and justice. By being an active voice of conscience in these areas, we hope to engage the peacemaking community, and reach beyond it to those who might join our efforts. At a time when voices cry out loudly for retaliation against a specified nation or group of people, we assume a role of proclaiming a stronger voice that leads us toward understanding, justice, equality, peace and security for all people.
