Boudoir scented candles and soft music playing set the scene. a silk scarf draped over the lamp gives the room an otherworldly feel. it is softly lit, fresh and airy – a light breeze stirs the curtains. The bed is newly made, the sheets cool, pillows perfectly plumped. We lie next to each other our bodies lightly touching, and you begin a slow, sensual exploration. your fingers know just where to go, our long relationship giving us both a deep awareness of one another. I lean into your touch eager for more. your lips nibble across and down my breasts. I cannot keep still; my hands begin their own journey. you turn me in your arms and kiss me. you fill me up, body and soul. it is intense, this feeling between us; it transcends speech. when we are joined like this, body to body, heart to heart, all else falls away and there is just us alone; together. © Ellie Maziekien 061802 482. Untitled - June 19, 2002 Sleep is a long time coming in the quietest hours of the night, where the silence that surrounds you makes every breath sound that much louder. Every twist, and every turn brings no relief in sight, magnifying the very fact that you're awaiting the return to light. In the darkness broken only by the waning streetlights, all the white noise moves to the foreground, playing counterpart to the jumble of thoughts that run through our mind. Even when eyes are closed, the mind runs wild, snippets of the past crashing through the emptiness strived for. Slow breaths, deep sighs, and absolute silence gradually serve to ease the mind; only to awaken again to the knowledge that dawn has come once again.
