Letting go
is both the easiest and hardest notion
all wrapped up
in the idea of love
like an ending
that neatly ties all ends to this time.

An unwanted release
from an unseen prison
that challenged propriety,
acceptance and history.

Like a prima donna
that commands the attention of the world,
the separation
echoes like a gaping chasm
across space and time
until the distance
dulls the memories
into a golden haze
of yesteryear.
