does battle against
the visual pleasure
of fulfillment.

The ringed loaf
is a combination of
desire and satiation
even before
a single bite is taken.

Liberally covered by
a dusting of powdered sweetness,
the right is weighed down
by the many slivers
of crisp almonds.

As the fragrance wafts
beyond the immediate,
a row of elfin faces
gathers in anticipation
of a tasty treat.
