Taffy - August 7, 2000

It was a sweetly salty taste
that reminded me
of the crisp
ocean air
and sandy beaches
of the shore.

A gentle pulling
stretches the pieces
to a translucent
golden brown -
fine enough
that I see through
to the other side

Sticky fingers,
laughing eyes
are all that remains
of this sweet
remembrance.
