Summer Feast - June 30, 2000

Peaches halved
were sweetly glistening
under a clear liquid glaze

Bananas in clever slivers -
pale flesh against dark orange

Mangos' succulent flesh
nestled in between
the two halves

Two delectable mounds
of frozen white -
at crossways with
the peaches -
a pool of sweetness
gathers

Stiffened peaks
of white 
are ladled on,
gently sliding off the tip
to land on
two sides of pale yellow
and dark gold

A sprinkling of chocolate
is spread across one peak
circling
the edge of the mound

Eyes light up
in delight
and then
laughter
as the golden strands
of butterscotch
twist
ever downwards.
