Dykes on Bikes - June 24, 2000

The roar of engines
drowned the cheers
from the crowds
and the gleam and shine
of the motor beasts
reflect the bright sunlight.

Flags of colour
flutter in the air
vibrating motors,
shiny leather,
caught up in the excitement
of the day.

Slick sweat,
sleek skin,
we watch
as the bikes
and the women that ride them
travel down the street -
followed by
happy shouts of laughter.
