Like the fly that dreams of the spider,
I wonder at the fascination
that we carry
for the forbidden
for the "others"
that are so ostracized.

Is it some type of "perverse" shame
that one hears of?
- the constant harping
of the differences
that lie between
"us"
and
"them."

Who is "us" and who are "they"?
Why do we fixate
on their "oddities"
instead of looking for
the similarities?

Why are we searching
for reasons
to exclude,
instead of all the ways
that we have to include?
