CONCLUSION: LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE TASK
thankfully, most tasks of bookfinding
are not quite as stressful as might have been suggested by this dramatization.
it is true, however, that much can be done to ease the burden of those seeking
a book in gleeson: clearer direction in getting from the main lobby to ignatio
would greatly ease the process; a more functional organizing system telling
patrons which floor holds which books would help also. Color-coding can be used
to better effect, as well as a more unified signage system.
In short: ideally library users need guides. since this is often impossible
given budget and personel restraints of the library itself, the challenge is
then to create that sense of comfort through the design of graphics and architectural
plans. that way, finding a book in gleeson is like finding one in your own home.
or better.
