CERTAINTY IN AN UNCERTAIN WORLD

99999 In the lives of each of us there is an element of uncertainty. For example, we do not know for sure how we will feel tomorrow. In fact, we do not know what the future holds for us. Unfortunately, these and similar thoughts disturb some people. But in the New Testament we learn that the way of Christ provides us with certainty in an uncertain world.

99999 Consider the following statement that Jesus made, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). From this declaration, we learn that the way of Christ is not built on superstition or the reasoning of man, but on truth. In John 17:17, Jesus identifies God's Word as being truth. This is the truth that Jesus emphasized in John 8:32 that we can know.

99999 Indeed, it is a wonderful blessing that God has given us His perfect revelation, the Bible. As we read and study it, we can learn and know His will for our lives. For example, we learn in the Bible what we must do in becoming a Christian. We learn in the Bible how we are to live as Christians. Also, we learn in the Scriptures how God desires to be worshipped. And so, as we obey God's Word, we have the assurance of His approval. We can know His Truth, and know that we know it!

99999 Our Father in heaven does not want us to live lives of doubt and frustration. Thanks be unto God for giving us His perfect revelation, the Bible. May we study it, learn it, and apply it to our lives. And remember, it will be by His Word that we will be judged (John 12:48). Truly, as we live our lives according to God's Word, we will have certainty in an uncertain world.
