| Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) is an international professional organization for men and women practicing in the field of education. Members of PDK International consist of: * classroom teachers * graduate students preparing for careers in education * university faculty * school and district administrators * educational specialists and consultants. Members have a common interest in the promotion and improvement of education with a particular emphasis on publicaly supported education. Worldwide, there are more than 660 chapters. Some of their functions are: * to arrange for stimulating and appropriate speakers to present at chapter meetings * to act as a liaison between local chapter business and that of PDK International * to creat opportunities for new members to join * to provide scholarships, grants, and travel programs offered by PDK * to entice the best and brightest graduates to choose teaching as a career * to design and write a newsletter and/or web site to be sent to members prior to each meeting International Web Site |
