Spring Trip to Texas, 2006
In Feburary we took a trip to South Padre Island and San Antonio.
On the way to South Padre, we stopped at Langtry Texas to see where Judge Roy Bean dealed out the law, west of the Pecos.
There were thickets of thorny brush and trees right along the marshes there, not all that different from the stuff that grows around us in Tombstone.
After spending a week walking the beaches and eating shrimp in South Padre, we drove up to San Antonio and spent three nights in a Bed & Breakfast inn. We arrived in time for San Antonio's version of Mardi Gras.
We walked all over from our B&B, including over to visit the Alamo.
We were surprised to find Yucca, and Prickley Pear cactus growing right along the edges of marshes near South Padre Island.
We drove through a wildlife refuge, along the waterway opposite South Padre Island. It was posted with Ocelot crossing signs.
We found a restuarant where we could sit near the River Walk and watch the boats go by.
We drove along the Mission Trail. There are three old spanish missions that made up early San Antonio.
