Albuquerque and the Balloon Fiesta
We spent a day in Albuquerque at the Pueblo Indian Culture center, the night in a nearby RV park, and then drove into the Balloon Fiesta grounds for our rally with other Safari Trek motorhome owners. We were camped on the grounds with other RV's but we really had prime spots, right next to the entrance to the field.
At the Pueblo Indian Culture center in Albuquerque, they have native american dance groups perform each day. The day we were there they had a group actually from Oklohoma. Although they were not a Pueblo tribe, they explained the meaning and history behind each dance, which was interesting.
At the end the dance troop had eveyone join in a peace dance.
We all got together for a social hour each evening. There were about 78 folks all together in the group.
This young boy did the hoop dance. As the dancers gt more experienced they add more hoops to the routine.
We joined the other 38 Southwest Trek Fun Club coaches at the Balloon Fiesta grounds on Thursday of the second week of the Fiesta.
We all went down on the field in the evening for the "Glowdeo", when they keep the balloons on the ground but inflate them so the propane burners make them glow as the evening darkens.
This is the official poster for the 2005 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
