In August we enjoyed brillant sunsets over the mountains, blooming cactus in the yard, hummingbirds, and all kinds of other birds feeding in the yard.

cholla sunset
A different type of cholla cactus blooming in the back yard. As the monsoons began, we were treated to beautiful sunsets over the Whetstone mountains, looking west from our patio. I have not figured out how to take time exposures of the lightning over the Dragoon mountains, but the electrical shows were incredible.

Another August sunset.
vinegaroon
Ocatillo stems and yucca bloom spikes silouetted by the dying sun over the Whetstones.
Tombstone
Deceased yard critter. I found this creature in the pool cleaner filter after it fell in the pool and drowned. It is a harmless Vinagroon, or Whip Scorpion. It's body is about 3" long. It eats bugs and small scorpions and squirts acetic acid (smells like vinegar, hence the name) when threatened by a predator.
Just another day in Tombstone. Actually this was during Rendevous of the Gunfighters, when re-enactment groups come and put on shows at the OK Corral. Penny and I have been slowly procuring some 1880's clothing.

Cowpoke Dan hanging around town.
During the Gunfighters Rendevous there was a fashion contest where people came from all over to compete.
