Safari Rally then on to the Panhandle
After the Southeast Trek Fun Club pre-rally in Clermont, we went to Orlando for the Safari Eastern Homecoming Rally. This was put on by the Safari International membership with sponsorship and support from Monaco, the manufacturer. On the way there we met Dennis, Penny's cousin, and his friend Tracy. Dennis was playing in a baseball tournament.

After four days at the rally we headed for the FLorida panhandle and the start of our journey back towards Washington.
lunch Trek's
After Dennis's games, we met at our coach and made lunch. I threw some shrimp on the barby, and Penny whipped up a Greek salad.
At the Safari Eastern Homecoming rally, most of the Trek's parked together.

St. George
A the rally field they provided power and water. It looked like a rat's nest, but it actually worked!
gator sign
We left the rally and headed for the Florida panhandle. We stopped for a couple of nights at St. George Island state park. It is located on a barrier island in the gulf.
lunch
The park had an old gator that lived in two big ponds right by the entrance to the campground.
We checked out the little town of St. George, and had lunch on the beach at a little restuarant. I'm pretty sure I had yet more shrimp.
campsite
hotel
The campground at St. George Island was pretty, located in the piney woods typical of the barrier islands along the gulf.
Next we movedon to Topsail Hill Preserve state park. We decided we wanted to walk down the beach to a restuarant for lunch and started walking. It turned out the closest businesses were about 4 miles. We finally did find lunch at a Hilton hotel.
