Key West and Southwest Florida
We got up early the last day we spent in Key West to a beautiful sunrise. Then we left and drove up highway 1 again. We stopped at Marathon key and went out to Pidgeon Key, a historic site having to do with the original railroad to Key West. Then we headed back to Florida City for a night and then drove west across the Tamiami Trail.

clouds pidgeon key
As the sun slowly came up behind the low clouds, the sky took on an interesting look. As we headed back north along highway 1, we stopped to visit Pidgeon Key, a historic site involved with building the original railroad to Key West back in the early 1900's.

gator
We stopped along the Tamiami Trail and took an airboat tour in the everglades.
The airboat driver stopped along the way to check out some gators.
big gator
birds
This big old gator was at a place the airboat tour stopped for awhile.
There were some strangely colorful birds that the airboat driver coaxed in with some crackers.
