On the way home
Once we left Lafayette, we headed across Texas, stopping only to spend the night. We stopped in Old Messila New Mexico, near Las Cruces, to poke around in the shops and have lunch. Then we trucked on down the road to Benson Arizona.

To make a long story short, we ended up staying in Tombstone Arizona three different times. We really liked the place and will probably be back there in the fall if possible. We also spent some time in Tucson, Mesa, and checked out the Sonoran Desert Museum.

Jim and Diana Greer, friends of ours from Washington, stopped in Tombstone with their new Trek coach. We spent a few days in Tombstone during a little festival celebrating the founding of Tombstone and it's mining heritage.

After that we headed to California, visited family and friends, sampled wineries, and then headed to Oregon for some scheduled maintanence and repairs on the coach.
Palm Springs
In between some of our stops in Tombstone, we spent a few days at a timeshare in Palm Springs. It was kind of a nice break, but it was Hot there! Hanging out in Tombstone. I dug out my cowboy boots and hat as lot's of folks wear cowboy gear in Tombstone.

Shootout in Tombstone. The volunteer group called the Vigilantes perform re-enactments of shootouts on the streets. They use blanks and make a lot of noise and have a lot of fun doing it.
We had a cool brew in the Crystal Palace Saloon. It has a really cool wooden bar that is a reproduction of the original which was lost in a fire that dmaged many of the buildings in Tombstone many years ago.
Jim Greer and a "friend" on the street in Tombstone.
The last night in Tombstone we took our flashlights and walked around in the old Tombstone cemetery. This one is not to be confused with the Boot Hill cemetery. There were many old headstones with interesting inscriptions on them. We found several headstones with ties to historical events, such as the grandson of Cochise.
