The Event

The Professional Development Day (PDD 2004) is jointly organized by HKIE-MIE, IEE-HK SSMS and WPUMAA – The IGDS Alumni.  It provides you insight on how to become an internationally recognized professional engineer with the benefits and opportunities of your academic and career advancement, developing hand in hand with HKIE & IEE-HK.  Meanwhile Mr Yeung Ming Tai, Barrister-at-Law, will share with you his professional expertise in his seminar for engineering - "Legal Aspect on Arbitration"

Seminar Presented by

Mr. Yeung Ming Tai, Barrister - at - Law
Mr YEUNG Ming-tai is both a Chartered Civil Engineer and a practising barrister commenced his legal practice in1989. He attained BSc(Eng), LLB, LLM, and had particularly involved in handling a wide range of infrastructure projects for Tuen Mun New Town development such as, reclamation, marine works, site formation, highways, bridges, drainage and sewerage and material testing and for Light Rail Transit (Tuen Mun to Yuen Long). Mr Yeung is a member of the Institute of Civil Engineers, the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn, UK, the Hong Kong Bar Association, as well as Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators.
Seminar Contents
What is arbitration? What is the difference between an international arbitration and a domestic arbitration? How should an arbitration commence? What duties and responsibilities an arbitrator owes to the parties? What power does an arbitrator have? Whether an arbitral award is final and binding? How can an arbitral award be challenged? How is an arbitral award enforced in Hong Kong? The seminar will be supplemented with case studies in engineering concerns.
