Support Diabetes Awareness!
I am Paul and this is my son Caleb.  We both have Type 1 Diabetes.  Diabetes is a disease that wreaks havoc on the lives of everyone around it.  When Caleb was diagnosed in 2002, we were told "We are within 10 years of a cure"...at a seminar the other day we heard the exact same words from the mouth of a nurse....when does the 10 years end?  The time for a cure is now!  Insulin is not a cure!  Type 1 diabetes is brought on by any childhood illness...Caleb's surfaced when he had the flu.  No child is immune to this disease.  We never thought this could happen to us...it could happen to you.  Please help the JDRF in your area, you can contact them at www.jdrf.org   There are many fundraising events going on all year long to help cure this deadly disease.
Diabetes is a disease in which blood glucose levels are above normal.  Most of the food we eat is turned into glucose, or sugar for our bodies to use for energy.  The pancreas, an organ that lies near the stomach, creates a hormone called insulin which helps glucose get into the cells of our bodies.  When you have diabetes, your body either doesn't make enough insulin or can't use its own insulin as well as it should.  This causes sugar to build up in your blood.  Diabetes can cause serious health complications including heart disease, blindness, kidney failure, and amputation of lower limbs.  Diabetes is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States.

Please contact your local Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation office and pledge support for a cure, the life you save could one day be your own.
