* The shorter the forehead, the longer your bangs should be.
* Protect your hair, as well as your skin, from the sun. Use a sunscreen on hairline parts. Lip balm will also work.
* To completely remove residue from hair, combine equal amounts of baking soda and shampoo. Let set for five minutes.
* Occasionally shampoo hair with mild dish washing detergent, to get rid of product buildup.
* Don't smile when the hairdresser is cutting your bangs. Smiling raises your forehead - your bangs may be cut too short.
* Don't cross your legs during cutting. It will make you sit unevenly. One side of your hair may end up longer than the other.
* Don't style soaking wet hair. Get it mostly dry first.
* For extra lift: Hold your head upside down while drying. To avoid those dreaded "bad hair days," choose the most appropriate of these five solutions, depending on your situation:
1. To remove dandruff, mash three aspirin in 1/3 cup shampoo.
2. To thicken hair and add stregnth, add a packet of gelatin to 1/3 cup shampoo.
3. For a final rinse to add shine to light hair, mix 1/4 cup lemon juice with 1/4 cup water.
4. For great results for brunettes, mix 1/4 cup vinegar with 1/4 cup water. 5. Create a nourishing hair pack by mashing up an overripe avocado. Warm the mush slightly and blend through dry hair. Leave for 30 minutes, then shampoo thoroughly. If you go swiming alot, your hair seems to get a build upon it. Try using white vinager mixed with lemon juice and add an egg into it (only the egg whites)mix realy well and put it on your hair before shampooing. then dry your hair while the mix is still on , you can also set out in the sun with it on. then you shampoo it out and go about your biz
*For softer hair: Use less shampoo and more conditioner...leave in 10 minutes...To prevent frizziness and promote shine, rinse hair with cold water and then apply your hair products and let hair air dry.Do not use the towel when you get out of the shower to rub your hair dry. Just wrap it on your head without rubbing. Trim the ends of hair every six weeks to keep hair its healthiest, ALSO if you use a shampoo for awhile...your hair becomes immune to it and does not work no more...so switch around and try something new.
Preventing Split Ends and Broken Hair
Half of the cure for split ends is prevention: Don't brush your hair too much, and be sure to use brushes and combs with smooth, wide-set teeth; avoid nylon bristles. And no matter what, don't brush wet hair! If you have knots, use a wide-toothed comb or your fingers to gently detangle from the ends up, one section at a time.
Elastic bands -- even the covered ones -- and barrettes can cause breakage. If you put your hair in a ponytail, use a scrunchie; when wearing barrettes, take care not to catch hair in the metal clip.
Preventing Dry Hair- Dry hair is caused by heat and the elements, so the first step is prevention: Try to avoid using overly hot dryers and heat-styling implements (or keep them at the lowest temperature possible) and wear a hat or scarf if you're going to be exposed to sun or wind for a long time (at the beach or skiing, for instance). And don't wash your hair every day -- unless you have an oily scalp, only shampoo often enough to remove dirt and buildup -- about two or three times a week. If you're like many women with fine dry hair, you probably overcondition and end up with your hair plastered flat against your head. The trick is to find a middle ground: products with enough conditioners to seal in moisture, but not so much that they weigh your hair down.
Hair Fixes
Hair Fix #1 Want to add shine to hair that has lost its luster and you don't have anything but shampoo in the house? Go to the fridge and pull out a jar of mayonnaise. Coat on damp hair in a thick layer. Place a plastic cap over it for an hour and rinse. Hair will be silky and very shiny.
Hair Fix #2 When putting on conditioner, remember that hair is usually damaged on the ends more than at the root area. So, put the conditioner on the damaged part, keep it off the root area. You'll be surprised how this can help fine hair that gets weighed down.
Hair Fix #3 Need some volume? Pull hair up in a high ponytail. Divide into three sections. Spray with hair spray and set ponytail ends on large Velcro rollers. After the spray has dried (about 10 minutes), take it down and add a bit of gloss. Classic, beautiful, and extremely glamorous.
Hair Fix #4 If you have medium to long hair and desire a full mane, braid damp hair into four large sections. Let hair completely dry and then remove braids. Whoa, now that's some big hair!
