Hi Friends,
I hope above lines give you fair indication of what students think about our 2-day workshop in PDA college of Engineering Gulbarga.

So, here is the summary of feedback from 6th Sem and 8th Sem students about Disha.
(For non-team members: Feedback was collected at the end of the 2nd day from all the students in the format attached below).
This summary mail is the extract of around 130 feedback forms giving important points and with some statistics.

To give some quick statistics to start with,
For the first question 'which program you found useful and why', around 25 students said 'All the programs were very useful'
Other split up is,
Technical Seminar (DSP) - 10, Technical Seminar (VLSI) - 10, Technical Seminar (GSM - 13, Technical Seminar in general (without specifying subject)  - 15, Project How - 15, Good Academic Projects - 15, What Next Part 1 (Higher Study) - 29, Bridging gap -12, Resume + Interview 67, What Next Part 2 (Jobs) - 41

Very common suggestions, which many students gave, are:
- Conduct in 5th and 7th Sem
- Please conduct every year.
- Get campus interviews to college.
- Help us in selecting our Elective subjects
- Take Aptitude and General English test
- Please create your website. PDASILICONS email id is not enough.

Let's go in detail about each seminar now.
To start with Technical seminars,
Feedback is very contradicting about the very usefulness of Technical seminars.
'Make technical seminars reachable to students or avoid them' as said by LSB sir reflects general opinion of first group of people. Common complaints include 'You could have made the technical sessions more interesting'; 'too many abbreviations were used, which made us difficult to follow'.
Other group of feedback suggests, because of these technical seminars, they came to know importance of these subjects.
'I was blindly learning these subjects such as DSP, VLSI. But we were not aware of industrial importance of these subjects. Now you talks have changed our views towards these subjects' as one guy puts it reflecting the general mood.
Simple observation shows that, whoever has liked one technical seminar, have liked other technical talks too!!
GSM by Ananth has got a special mention from few students saying it was very informative.

Coming to seminars Project How and Academic Projects,
As Feedback suggests, 'Good Academic Projects' session by Chennu was very useful to 6th Sem Students. But most of the students have given feedback saying seminar should have been more detailed. 'Give us the basic requirements needed for the project'; 'More details regarding project and more project options are needed' as students put it.
'Helped me in choosing good project field' was general feedback.

One interesting observation about Sudarshan's 'Project How?' is that, seminar has found relatively more fans in girls section!!! Reason - unknown!!
General complement about this seminar is that 'It showed us how to proceed with our project'.

What Next Part 1 (Higher Studies by Anand) and What Next Part 2 (Jobs by Sanjay) have received overwhelming response from students.
'Disha has motivated me to take higher study option. The dilemma of job or higher study has been resolved' ,  I was confused whether to go for job or study. But now decided for job',  'Actually I am in dilemma after Disha',  'I was thinking about MTech, but Mr Joshi confused me!', 'I am feeling more confidant now. Many were telling we will not get jobs. But Disha came out saying we can, what options and how to get one', etc are indication of general opinion. It is sure that Disha forced students to at least think about Higher Study option seriously.
Few students still feel that more details about Higher education and job requirements was needed. Sure, we can improve.

Coming to best, most popular and useful Programs of the 2-day event ..
You got it. Resume and Interview..
'I am impressed very much and liked the concept of mock interview' as few put it.
True, Good concept combined with great effort put by Mallinath and Poornima has paid off rich dividends. Almost every student said, 'program was very useful, impressive and gave practical knowledge about Interview and Resume'. 'We are more confidant and motivated now' was general theme in student's feedback about Interview. True, this session touched the immediate concerns of students in an excellent way and students such response was only natural. In fact as it looks, few students liked Disha only because of Interview-Resume session!!

About Bridging Gap, cool and informative session by Shivamurthy has got comments like 'Gave idea about difference between what we are and what we should/must be for professional.'

Group Discussion - Again students have liked very concept of GD. One of the very common suggestion/crib is GD for students. In fact we had promised it and couldn't arrange because of time constraint. As one student puts it plain words 'Don't hurry to catch the trains. Please reduce the rate of information delivery' .. many other reflected same thing but in lighter words. Coming back to GD, 'It showed us what do in GD' as put by one student tells it all!!

Coming to end of this (lengthy!!) mail,
One common thing, which students have said without we asking for is
'I would like to join Disha next time'
And a 'Thanks for everything' line at the bottom of the feedback form!!
Thank you?!!

That's all from my side I guess for now, will get back if I have missed something.

Cheers
Sanjay Joshi on behalf of Disha team.
