Wootwoot! Ive appointed myself as reviewer, souh, heres my attempt at reviewing ROCKTOBER-FEST
As the sun set in the not so shiny Mottingham, SEVEN:FORTYSEVEN decided to attack the stage (quite literally) and, my word, what a start to the night!
Getting the crowd going with their short but sweet set, Joe, Samir, George and Max set a high standard for the other acts to follow. And for their first gig, I personally was blown away, especially by Joes stage presenceyou go boy!
Targeting the standard set by SEVEN:FORTYSEVEN and then proceeding to send it into space were 3 SECOND MEMORY.
These boys have talent.
Dressed in matching t-shirts (except for Sharavanan way to let the side down) it was obvious that things were only gonna get better. 3 SECOND MEMORY were joined by Davo, King Of Bass, for a few songs and thereby formed some sorta super group. As it was the first time Id seen 3 SECOND MEMORY, I dunno what their popular songs are, but judging by the crowds response I think all of them will be hits! Just to top it off of course, every member of the band has a gorgeously super-smooth voiceGabriel and Sharas harmonising was fantastic and to pick out one song where Trevors voice sounded best would be unfair on the others.
Trev Youre a guitar god and you rock
Literally three seconds after the band left the stage the crowd were shouting, no, roaring for more. What they really needed was some good PDA luvin. And under the watchful eye of Danger Mouse, they got it. Revitalised by the addition of a new monkey by the name of Ferris (RIP Giles) PDA were rocking harder than all the bands at Reading put together.
PDA define rock.
Despite the absence of Ros again, the guys were on top form. They played all the old favourites Maunder, Heroin (my fave) Unforgiven as well as a new song, Hibernation (which, by the way, was brilliant) and there wasnt a still body in the houseeven Oli and Trevs mums couldnt restrain themselves!
PDA should be very proud, very proud indeed; they should go a long way. Even their cover versions stand out in the small world of St. Olaves related rock. The only problem is that some of them find even the simplest tasks amazingly challenging. Take Oliver and Alex for examplethose two are crazy kids. Alex struggles to read set lists (unless the intro to Bohemian Like You was a decoy) and Oliver cant even remember a simple quote from one of the best Scottish films of our generation (no its not Braveheart) Who needs Heroin indeed?!
But back to the point, PDA are all kings of very small countries off the East African coast. Davo, despite having his stage space invaded (let alone his anal passages), is the coolest bassist evearr, and his bass face is kinda cute. Alex is the sexiest drummer this side of Biffy Clyro (you what?!). Rob is multi-functional like a power tool (doesnt make such a whiny noise tho) and Oliver plays guitar like no-ones ever seenMind blowing the lot of them.
And as ROCKTOBER-FEST reached its climax and came to an end, the crowd were still hungry. Alex, always one to supply on demand, gave them one last drum solo and then its over. PDA are all gonebut dont worry kids, when they return theyll be ejaculating even more rock n rock n roll (man).
kt xx
Ah i can't be arsed...i just typed all that lot up...
Ben Youre a guitar king and youre almost as bad at pool as me
Gabriel Wear the orange trousers more
Sharavanan A dancing drummerwhat more can I say other than 3 SECOND MEMORY rule-full stop.
