| It is not uncommon for each new leader to name that which is his so that other nations and their armies will recognize what era or reign from whence it came. I Bejor Thex was born into a society of TeirDal only. In this society only Dark Elves could wear the Thex surname because our Lord Innorruk demanded it so. Even though we had strong devoted allies that were not TeirDal we could not publicly display this bond. I watched my brothers and sisters fight along side Trolls, Ogres, and Iksars but I knew little of them but the unique styles and abilities in combat. I developed an admiration of sorts for each of their kinds. I found myself thirsting for more knowledge of their species. It is here where I took my first quest, a quest for knowledge. It was on this journey, after many of months of travel and battles in a far off land that I found my destiny. I was approaching the ruins of a small town alone, as I had spent most of my travel, when I heard a fierce battle going on. As I crept slowly through the ruins I came across a few dead bodies, one was that of a Dwarven Warriors the other Human Rogue. The fight seemed to be moving further and further away. As I continued on I came upon another pile of bodies. This time there where three, another Human and two Wood Elves. One of the Wood Elves appeared to be a healer of some sort. I had to hurry to see this fantastic battle. The light allies must have come upon a large number of darks and were retreating. The battle had carried outside the ruins now into an open meadow, I could barely see the fighters so I ran and took cover behind a clump of bushes. I was wrong, the lights had the superior numbers and against just two lizard type people. It was a male and female Iksar and very nicely dressed. I had only seen one Iksar before, he was a Monk and I knew his fighting technique. It was a style that even my older brothers admired. This lizard male seemed to have the same skills, and the female I found out later to be a shaman. Now there are five lights remaining and the male has been bloodied bad but is still able to drop another light to the ground. Something kept me back from aiding in the fight, perhaps it was the fear of not knowing if I would be welcomed by the Iksars. Im not sure. The male was showing signs of exhaustion, when suddenly the female seemed to look towards me and then she let out a set of squeals. They go into a fighting frenzy like I had never seen before in my life. Did she see me? Was I the cause of their panic? She looked towards me but it was almost like.like! I spun around and just inside the ruins stood a boy pup with his fists clenched tightly and ready to run towards his parents. I knew now what they where fighting for. I ran and grabbed the Iksar child, I carried him to a safe spot where I had rested at a little ways back. I heard a faint noise coming towards us. I stood up to see it was the boys mother. She had come to find out what had happened to here son. She was badly cut and bones broken, I knew she could not live. Out of complete surprise she spoke to me, not in her native tongue but in mine. It was here my fate begins. She tells me that she too was from a royal line and that they were banished from their land because they thought their race should seek out and form an alliance with us. That she knew that I was watching the fight the whole time, but when it looked as if the boy may be seen by the lights and that one of them may kill the boy before they could stop them they had to make their final stand. She asked me to find someone to take the boy for he could not go home at this time or he would be killed. So before she died I told her I would take him to Ssalam the Monk I talked about earlier, that I would name him Malass after this monk. She told me that she and her husband knew of Ssalam, that he and her husband studied under the same master. She was very pleased that her boy would live and learn the discipline that was once his fathers. As she closed her eyes her tears ran down her face. How noble of a race, how can Innoruk not take grace on this people? I decided to carry out this idea of an alliance and that I Bejor Thex would go to Lord Innoruk with a proposal. But I knew, that it would not be accepted by him, I had to make my argument a strong one. When I returned home everything was in chaos. The battles between lights and darks had escalated. As I had suspected from the battle at the ruins the lights races had singed a treaty to join forces to eliminate the Dark races fore individually they could not. Thus in order to match the power of the Lights Alliance the Dark races formed Great Houses. These houses are made up from the best of all Dark Race specific Guilds. All but a few of my brothers and sisters had left to join other great houses. As the last of the original Thexs where leaving to join up with Wraithguard they said farewell little brother and when you are close to becoming a Reaver we will send for you. But now your are the leader of the Royal Family of Thex. This was the exact break that I needed, as Leader of the Thexs I had the ability to approach Lord Innoruk with my plan for a Dark Alliance of the Nations (DAN). But in order to satisfy Innoruk, I would have to keep the TeirDal entity pure by having a separate name for my fighters that are not TeirDal. They would be known as the Royal Army of Thex (RAT). After hours upon hours of discussions with Lord Innoruk that lasted for days we came to an agreement on these terms. Thus from this generation forth the TeirDals will take on the surname of DanThex and the other RFoT members will RaThex. So that where ever they may go they will display the proud mark of their brothers and sisters that they had trained and fought with through their younger years. That future generations may also know that they are of the same sect and that they may be trusted in all things. I feel that all is well, that this is the beginning of a new and great era. That the noblest of all deaths would not go without rewards. Those two Iksars gave up their lives in the hopes of a secure future for their son. Yes, and even after being shunned from their homeland, they unselfishly where hoping to insure the existence of their race. I fulfilled my pledge to take care of their son and set up an alliance of the dark nations. I am pleased. |
