2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup salt
3/4 cup water
food coloring
aluminum foil
cookie sheet
rolling pin
butter knife or cookie cutter (round or heart shaped)
toothpick
oven
poster paints (optional)
Make salt dough clay. Mix flour, salt and water. Knead until doughy. Add food
coloring (if desired). ; Roll dough into a ball. Put the dough onto a cokkie sheet
covered with aluminum foil. Roll out with rolling pin until about 1 inch thick. Spread
your childs' fingers and press their hand into the center of the clay. Using the butter
knife, cut a shape around the handprint (or use the cookie cutter for the shape) Write
your childs' name and date using the toothpick.; Bake the dough at 200 degrees until
dry (about 3 hours). Let it cool and then paint with poster paints if desired.
