Joe Jenckes is joining PCP for the
first time, but he is no stranger to Washington area audiences. He
was the winner of the 2001 Washington Area Theatre Community Honors (WATCH)
Award for the outstanding performance as a lead actor in a play for: “On Golden
Pond” as “Norman Thayer, Jr.” at the Little Theatre of Alexandria (LTA). His
recent professional work includes the part of “Tobias” in “A Delicate Balance”
and “William Russell” in “The Best Man” at the American Century Theater. Joe
has appeared in over 80 productions in Repertory Theatre and Off
Broadway. In Television he appeared with Fess Parker in a number of
episodes for the “Daniel Boone” series. Other productions at LTA include
the parts of “Lenny” in “Rumors”, “Gordon” in “Key for two,” “Big Daddy” in
“Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” and “Sir David Metcalfe” in “Beyond Reasonable Doubt”
for which he won the MCormick-Goodhart Award for best
performance of the year in a leading role. He has also appeared as “George” in
“Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” at the Prince
George’s Little Theatre in Maryland, “Arthur Birling”
in “An Inspector Calls” for the Great Falls Players” and “Henry Higgins” in the
musical “My Fair Lady” at The Arlington Players. Joe worked as chief of
staff in the U.S. Senate and as Senate
Liaison to the White House for President Ford. A chief lobbyist and vice
president of Abbott Laboratories for 17 years, Joe retired in 1994 to return to
his first love, the theatre.
