THE HOLOCAUST

This page is my tribute to the brave men women and children who suffered in the concentration camps  such as

                       chelmno

                        auschwitz

                        treblinka.
and many more camps in europe the following stories are true accounts from some of the survivers that endured the terrible actions of their persecutors..........................................

This first account tells us about what the conditions of the journey to Auschwitz was like for 650 Jews from Northern Italy in February 1944...

'We suffered from thirst and cold; at every stop we clamoured for water, or even a handful of snow, but we were rarely heard; the soldiers of the escort drove off anybody who tried to approach the convoy.  Two young mothers, nursing their children, groaned night and day, begging for water...The hours of darkness were nightmares without end.'

The second account tells us about what it was like to be separated from friends and family when you arrived at a concentration camp the camp mentioned in this account is Treblinka and is told be a prisoner known only as hans...

'I can only think of my wife and boy. said hans... My little boy had curly hair and soft skin - soft on his cheeks like on his bottom - that same smooth soft skin.  When we got off the train he said he was cold, and I said to his mother, "I hope he won't catch a cold."  when they separated us he waved to me...'
