Aboard = on base ALICE = individual field pack (All - purpose, Lightweight,Individual Carrying Equipment) All Hands = everybody As you were! = resume what you were doing Aye, aye Sir! = acknowledgment of an order BCD = Bad Conduct Discharge BDR = Basic Daily Routine Billet = assignment or job Blouse = jacket of the uniform Blues = Dress Blues formal uniform Boondocks = swamps, small towns ( also boonies) Boot = recruit Boss = Senior Drill Instructor Brass = officers Brig = Jail BulkHead = Wall Bunk = Bed (also rock) Camies = Camouflage feild uniform Carry on! = Same as As you were! Casual Company = Unit of men awaiting reassignment Catch a hit = To recieve a dressing down by a superior (also chewed out) CG = Commanding General Chit = Authorisation or receipt Chow = Food Chow Down = To eat Click = One notch of rifle sight adjustment CMC = Marine corps Commander Colors = The American flag (also the ceremonies of raising and lowering the flag) Com Rats = Commuted Rations (payments for meals away from the mess hall) Corpsmen = Navy Medics who serve with the Marines Cover = Hat or Cap Cover ass = To take precautions to avoid blame Cruise = Period of enlistment Dark Green = black Marine Deck = floor (also can mean to knock down) Deuce Gear = 782 gear, equipment carried by an individual Marine D.I = Drill Instructor Ditty Bag = Canvas bag for toilet articles etc. Dog and Pony show = A special drill, etc, preformed for visting dignitaries Double Time = Marching cadence of 180 36 inch steps per minute Dry Run = Practice exercise EST = Essential Subject Test given each year to lower enlisted grades. Field Day = Barracks Cleanup Field Scarf = Necktie Fleet = Fleet Marine Force (FMF) Float = Sea deployment of a unit Galley = Kitchen Gangway! = Move out of the way! Gear = Equipment |
