Laura accidentally locked herself in a closet as Luke’s and overhears a conversation between Luke, Frank Smith and Bill Watson (Frank Smith’s right hand man). Smith finds out that Laura had heard and puts a hit out on her.
To keep the hit from going down – Luke had to marry
Smith’s daughter, Jennifer. Luke reluctantly agrees.
On Luke’s wedding day to Jennifer, he demands that Smith give him the title to the legitimate businesses. Luke finds out that the key to Smith’s business is a little black book, which names the members of the P. C. Mob.
On July 4, Luke search’s Smiths office and finds the book. He photographs it. Problem he has is that it is in code. Luke shows the photos to Smith and uses them to get what he wants. Frank tells Luke to “leave the marriage but don’t cause me any problems.”
Luke and Laura go on the run and Smith sends his hit man, Hutch after them.
Luke and Laura have the black book photos with them and they decide to decode it. They also try and figure out what who the left-handed boy is. Luke had overheard Smith say that the “left-handed boy is the only one who could bring the P. C. mob.”
When Luke and Laura left, Smith had Bobbie harassed by having a dead rat sent to her and had Aunt Ruby beaten up, in the hopes that it would bring Luke back.
Hutch followed Luke and Laura to Beechers Corners. Unbeknownst to Luke and Laura, Hutch already knew the secret of the left-handed boy. That secret being that the left-handed boy was actually a statue and hidden inside of the left hand was gold bouillon.
When Hutch got to Beechers Corners he decided to befriend Luke and Laura. Hutch, Luke and Laura got jobs at Calhouns Diner. Another hitman arrives and they flee to Fair Oaks.
Frank
Smith was getting angry that his plans had met with fruition. He
would find out that Joe Kelly was investigating him so he put a hit out
on Joe. The hitman, Vic Gower, was sent to kill Joe but Vic stabbed
Joe’s father Paddy instead. Paddy died.
Vic was sent to Beechers Corners to kill the 3 there. But he would meet his demise there and be buried in the Whitaker cornfield by Hutch.
At Fair Oak’s the 3 get jobs at a bar run by Sally Armitage. Sally was in disguise as she was a hitman for Smith.
Luke being the suspicious person that he is, searched Sally’s room and finds out that Sally was really a man and that he worked for Smith.
Luke would find the statue of the left-handed boy in a fountain outside of Sally’s bar. He realized that theinformation he needed to decode the black book was on the statue. He decides to send Laura back to Port Charles to keep her safe because he also realized that Hutch was working for Smith.
Laura is put on the bus to Port Charles and she promptly gets off of it and is caught by Hutch. Hutch intends to use Laura as way to get Luke to give him the gold.
Luke finds the gold under the word “gold” on the
statue.
There is a shoot-out involving Hutch and Sally. But Luke is shot. He isn’t hurt as he is wearing a bulletproof vest. Hutch is critically injured and Sally is killed.
With the uncoded black book, Luke has the proof
needed to put Smith away for a long time.
