The Quiltmaker's Gift   and
Quilts from the Quiltmaker's Gift -
20 traditional Patterns for a Generation of Generous Quiltmakers

Author:  Jeff Brumbeau
Ilustrator:  Gail DeMarcken
Publisher: Pfeifer-Hamilton  10/1999 and 5/2000

The Quiltmaker's gift is a life lesson learned by a wealthy, want-for-nothing King.  The King in his quest to own everything in his kingdom, stumbled into the patchwork of a generous talented quilter.  One stumbling block in his plan diverts his attention to be the giver to lastly be the receiver of a wonderfully made quilt.  This book uses many quilt patterns and is a very bold colorful book for children.  (But adults like it, too)

Ilustrator for Quilt Patterns: Joanne Larsen Line with Gail DeMarcken,
Nancy Loving Tubesing

Quilts from the Quiltmaker's Gift are highlighted and patterned with full colorful pictures in the sequel book.  Instructions are very well-prepared and easy to do.
Both books should be a highlight in a child's life and will help insure the Art of Quilting to live on in generations.

Another Children's Book that makes and brings back memories of a special quilt.  A pioneer mother lovingly stitches a beautiful personalized quilt that warms and comforts her own daughter through many transitions in growing up and many years later it is found tucked away.  This next generation mother patches and watches as it warms and comforts her daughter.
This is another great book to keep children's minds alive in the history that a quilt can offer as well as the traditional comforts of life in unstable times.  A must for all young readers.
