Pattern of the Month
BLOCK:   Saw Tooth Star
12 1/2" square
A
ll seams are 1/4" unless otherwise noted...... press each seam toward the darker fabric unless directed.
Fabric A: Cut 1 strip 3 7/8" x 15 1/2"
                   & 1 strip 3 7/8" x 7 3/4"
Fabric B: Cut 1 strip  3 7/8" x 23"
                   & 1 strip 3 1/2" x 14"

Stack all  3 7/8" strips and using arotart cutter, cut these strips into 3 7/8" squares.  This should yield 6 of each fabric color.

Cut the last strip of Fabric B (3 1/2" x 14") into four 3 1/2" squares.
With RST, place one square of each color together,  As with previous patterns given in this newsletter, draw a line from one corner to the opposite corner.  Stitch scant 1/4" from this drawn line on each side of line as shown in figure 1.

Cut triangles apart and press seams towards the darker fabric.

Repeat this process with all the other 3 7/8" squares to make a total of 12 HSTs.  (Half-Square Triangle).   Press all seams.

OPTION:  When chossing colors a third color could easiely be substituted for
the 3 7/8" x 7 3/4" piece of Fabric A.  This would yield you four HSTs that could be contrasting colors for the inside "pinwheel".
fig. 1
Place your squares according to the above picture and stitch with scant 1/4" seams.  Stitch pieces together in rows and then rows together pressing each row with alternating seam directions for a better "fit" or "lock" for best corners.
